They started when they said they would, got the job done efficiently, and kept in touch with us about changes and innovations as the project went along. "We were introduced to Nick by another trusted friend and contractor. Nick was one of 3 carpenters/contractors that we had bid the job, and from the start, he built trust and credibility. After seeing pictures of his work, reading others reviews, and going on "gut," we hired Nick for a rather challenging and unique project (large built in book shelf that we wanted to appear as part of the original 30 year old log home), along with a list of other jobs that are probably more typical (new solid wood interior doors, plant flooring in a basement, tongue and grove ceilings with sound proofing and can lighting, and misc. trim work). "I'll start by saying I chose Matt because of the reviews here on Angie's List and the photographs of his work on his web site. Matt doesn't come cheap, and we did have significantly lower bids for this job. We felt that these built-ins were going into our great room and needed to look good, like a piece of furniture. We felt confident that Matt could deliver the quality craftsmanship we wanted for this project, and decided the extra cost was justified. Matt suggested a bench under each window with storage and doors below and a Cherry top (seat) on the benches. We decided on a scribed fit against the fireplace, which meant Matt would have to cut the bookshelves to mate with the rock fireplace. Matt shared his plan to build the bookshelves in his shop, described the materials being used and the process he would use to paint the exposed surfaces, gave us a rough date for completion and assured us we would be happy with the result. On installation day, he showed up with his partner Josh and each took a side of the fireplace to work on. They spent the entire day installing our built-ins, and even had to finish up a few details on the following day. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the result. The built-ins look great, and have that quality furniture look we hoped for. The sprayed on lacquer finish is awesome and durable. What an improvement in the room!"
