"Great. They were respectful, responded to all of my questions and issues. I initially purchased the deal they had on Angie's list and cancelled it when I didn't get a call back. They eventually reached out to me and apologized for the delay explaining that the weather had put them behind. I was very happy with their work and responsiveness when they were able to work with me."

"David and Kelsyn did an excellent job. David repaired and painted the den ceiling. Kelsyn painted our bathroom and trim work. It all looks so lovely and fresh. They cleaned as they worked and actually left the areas cleaner than they originally were before they began their work. They were very hardworking, polite young adults and it was evident that they take great pride in doing a job well-done. They went above and beyond what other contractors have done we previously hired and we will definitely be contracting them for any future projects we have. They have my highest recommendation to anyone needing home repairs/renovations. Pete Nix Seneca, South Carolina"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

While you should consult with a ceiling professional for larger cracks, especially if you’re not sure what’s causing your ceiling to crack, you can certainly try to repair small cracks on your own. If you’re up for the task, here’s how to repair ceiling cracks for $150 or less.

On average, repairing a ceiling costs anywhere from $450 to $1,750. However, there are many variables that can impact the price of this project. For example, the type of ceiling material, type and extent of the damage, and local labor rates all affect your costs. Holes and cracks are less expensive to fix, while structural issues and water damage are pricier problems.

Whether you can install or repair plaster yourself depends on the project's size and your comfort level with DIY projects. It's possible to handle small repairs on your own, but for larger projects like a room restoration or a full installation, it's often best to hire a local plaster professional. The final appearance, even coverage, and durability of the plaster depend heavily on proper wall preparation and application. If you are not 100% confident in your ability to achieve a professional result, letting an expert handle the job is a worthwhile investment.

Look for flaking paint or air bubbles that burst and then flake away. Paint will begin to flake after being exposed to minimal moisture or water, so it’s a good indicator of any water damage. If you notice your paint starting to flake, feel the plaster underneath to see if it is soft or damp.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.
