"I used SCW DRYWALL for a few projects in preparation to sell my condo. The initial work was great. Mr. Smith quickly provided quotes with photos of the damage. He got the repairs done within his time frame and provided images of the repairs...all good. This prompted me to consider him for other tasks that we needed done. My next experiences with him began to change. Between not being able to get reliable call backs and confirmation of repairs I, eventually, had to find another repair person. He's a cool guy but it appears that the more comfortable he gets the less professional things become. If you have a single job you'll probably be just fine. But I couldn't recommend him for anything other than small, one-time jobs."

Installing drywall over plaster will increase the wall's thickness, which can cause issues with existing window and door frames that may no longer fit. You might also need to adjust power outlets to keep them accessible. A better, though more expensive, option is to remove the old plaster and lath entirely before installing new drywall. Drywalling directly over plaster seals in the old material, and if any problems arise later, you will need to remove both layers down to the structural beams for repairs. Given the potential complications, this job is best handled by professionals.

Common causes of ceiling cracks along drywall seams include poor drywall installation techniques, structural issues, truss uplift, and foundation problems. Temperature and humidity also play major roles in ceiling cracks flush with the wall. As the drywall shrinks and expands from major temperature changes or extreme humidity shifts, this can cause the drywall to crack.
