My objective is to provide an affordable alternative to the high priced contractors, without sacrificing quality. My parents taught me the right way in which to do work and to charge only what I would expect to pay for that service. By following this guideline I stay very busy. At least 98% of my work comes from referrals (word of mouth). I have a long list of customers who call me whenever they need a home repair or other work done. I am very versatile. I like knowing what I'm paying for, and you probably do too. My invoice is broken down into two columns. Materials and Labor. There are occasions, where there may be hidden damage behind a wall, floor or ceiling, which was not anticipated, and therefore not included in the original estimate. If/when this occurs, you will be notified immediately of any additional materials and/or labor costs. Upon your approval, work will continue. Payment can be made in several ways. A) Upon completion of a single job. B) Upon completion of each segment of work on a list. C) Payment of materials only prior to work commencing, with labor due upon completion. D) Payment for materials, and one-half of labor paid when work is half-way completed, and the rest upon completion. Payment terms will be determined and agreed upon prior to beginning any work. At this time I only accept your personal check or cash.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Manufacturers, insurance companies, and municipality regulations are phasing out three-tab shingles. Because of their short lifespan and lack of durability compared to other roofing material types, manufacturers are leaning toward better products, and cities and insurers are starting to require better building materials overall. However, 3-tab shingles are still for sale, and some roofing companies still install them.

Your chimney needs a structurally sound chimney cap, protective lining, damper, chimney flashing, and brick and mortar to prevent water from goind down your chimney. A pro can help you identify where the issue is so that you can stop water from coming down the smoke shaft, through your damper, and into your home.

Shingles should overhang the drip edge by no more than 3/4-inch. Longer overhangs will more easily get caught in wind and leave you with an increased risk of roof uplift. You should have an overhang of at least 1/2-inch, though, as anything shorter can increase the risk of moisture getting blown under the shingles and damaging your roof deck or fascia.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average. The prices range from about $75 to $1,000, depending on the material, size, any repairs needed, and if your chimney cap requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, copper, or stainless steel. Additional costs may include hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before a cap is installed.

A tarp can temporarily stop a roof leak, but how long the solution works heavily depends on the placement and size of the leak. While a tarp can be a temporary solution, it’s crucial to have a professional inspect and repair the leak as soon as possible to implement a permanent fix.
