  This is the third time I have used Batson's since moving into the area last year. This time I had a toilet that had perpetually been having problems and finally spilled over and leaked through the ceiling below. They came the same day we called and I have not had any spillover issues since they came by. They have also repaired a shower in the past and installed a gas line during a kitchen renovation where I was installing a gas cooktop. I thought the price on the gas line was too high but some other plumbers didn't call back or didn't seem interested in doing the job - so high or not, they got the job. The job was done professionally. The best part about Batson's is the people. Really nice people from the Supervisor (esp Danny Ivey) to the technicians. They always have a good attitude and perform their work with care. They are our "go to" plumbers nowshow more

  They did a good job. They were professional, on time, and did the work that was required and did not up sell. They performed the work within the estimate. The resolved a signifcant problem for us, thousands of gallons of water loss due to the increased pressure (water system reworked lines and increased pressure but it was not supposed to be 100+!). They recommended alternate solutions to the problem. They provided suggestions on other items I can address within the house as well. Some of which goes a bit beyond normal DIY work but would save money. That is much appreciated. I highly recommend them. We've all dealt with less than professional plumbers.   I was impressed with their immediate response to come out, look at my house, and give a quote. They were professional, knowledgable and punctual. I had immediate confidence in their ability to do the work. The installation crew was well staffed, very professional, and courteous. They initially responded with a quick installation time with-in my requested time frame and did the majority of work very efficiently. The crew was very cognizant of keeping the house clean while going back and forth between the house and crawling under it. They didn't hesitate to pull in a fast response from main office to get parts on-site to "do the job right" rather than "the quicker route of doing it with what they had". Since much of the work involved gas lines, it was obvious that they took their job very seriously. I have absolute confidence in a good well done. If I had any complaints, it was a delay in getting everything on line. Between mix ups with proper paperwork between the County and Piedmont Gas, there was a delay. And then a scheduling issue with-in George Hill for final hook-up. These mix-ups delayed completion by a little more than I would have wished. They were very apoplectic, admitted their mistake, and quickly got us on line in the end. All in all, I am very impressed with George Hill, and would have given them "Straight As" across the board if it wasn't for the delays in the end. They are a good bunch of guys and feel confident in their work ethic, knowledge and value. They were not the cheapest quote we received, but were not the most expensive (by far, one contractor's quote was double!). I will most certainly be using them in the future for any other mechanical work I needshow more

  This company was subcontracted by the company who sold and installed our standby electrical generator, and I found their charge to the contractor by accident. Their charge was 75% of what our gas utility would have charged and nearly half the rate proposed by another generator installer (who did NOT propose an inspected installation). They showed up on time, did their work efficiently, were courteous and professional to a fault, and ensured that the work site was cleaner and neater than when they arrived. One of their workmen discovered that our home had been built without the required moisture trap at the gas entrance, and added one at no charge during his work. When he re-lit the pilot on the gas water heater, he discoved a leak in the pilot supply line and fabricated/installed a replacement, again at no charge. When I attempted to pay him for the extras, he declined, saying that he was going to be there anyway, and that the materials involved had negligible costs. This experience took me to a time 50 years ago, watching the interactions between my parents and the genuinely professional workmen who performed work around our house. They were always clean and neat, well-spoken, charged a reasonable fee, stood behind their work, were proud to be who they were and proud of what they did.   They picked up the hot water heater and installed it for us. We don't have a truck. We went to the store and purchased a water heater and they went and picked it up for us. He quoted us three hundred dollars, and when it was all done it only cost us two hundred dollars.   We had gone back and forth with our home warranty company for sending out two different heating and air companies that were incompetent. The companies they sent were unprofessional...smoking near the gas line on the house, speaking to my husband in a rude way, and peeling out of the driveway when I asked him to leave. I finally called HIS Heating and Air, and although they did not work with my warranty company and I had to pay out of pocket, it was well worth paying to have it fixed. Darryl was able to do in one day what the other two companies couldn't do in two weeks. I was so thankful to finally have heat again and highly recommend them.   How'd it go? Not too good. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have gotten an electric water heater. I should have gotten insurance for gas line repairs. I also should have gotten another company, but very few were available nearby. The guy on the phone sounded professional and reliable, so I went with them. One problem was he was out of town when the two guys showed up, after postponements and delays. This wasn't an emergency, but it's no fun when you know gas is leaking wasting money. It took them forever to figure out where the leak was and how to fix it. They said they would have to go through the walls to repair the line. I told them this was out of the question. Finally they figured out they had to go under the house. They first said they were blocked by a cinder block wall, before they figured they could go around it. Then they complained there was water under the house that smelled bad and said they couldn't do anything until I had that fixed. I had to call Roto-Rooter, who did a good job draining the water from frequent heavy rain. He said he didn't understand why a little water prevented them from completing the job. I was told they turned the gas back on until I could fix the problem under the house. When I took a freezing cold shower, I discovered they didn't turn the gas back on. A few days after draining the puddle from the basement they came back and said they didn't have the pipe they needed and would have to come back again. Eventually, they came back and finished the job; and as far as I know the workmanship was fine. After that I had to have Piedmont Natural Gas turn the gas back on. The guy from the gas company explained there was no way they could turn on the gas. Two months later I finally got my bill, which I paid. My gas may no longer be leaking, but there has been a drain on my bank account and my patienceshow more

  We had Christian, from Ken's Pluming come out to quote a project for us that involved him going into the attic. Christian damaged our ceiling by putting weight on it and causing a nail-pop in the corner of our guest bedroom. It took us a few days to notice the damage as it happened in the corner of a guest room. We scheduled to have Christian and Craig (Supervisor) come back to view the damage. They had to re-schedule on us and so we moved forward with another contractor completing our project. However, we took a video of the damage from Christian before any work was done by the other contractor so that Christian could not claim it was not him. [*** Link removed ***] When Christian and his supervisor, Craig, came out to look at the damage Christian immediately states he did not even leave the platform, a flat area by the attic door. Then changed his story and said, “I mean, I didn’t go that far over there.” They both noticed we had a new gas line installed, and quickly tried to state that the damage could have been from someone else, fair enough, that’s why we took the video and informed them that we had proof of damage before anyone else was in the attic. Christian flip-flopped and was put on the spot by Craig to either state he did it or did not do it. No strong answer came from him and they both left stating they needed to talk with Ken (Owner) and would get back to us. We were informed today (6/17) after reaching back out for an answer, that they will not be fixing the ceiling as they can not be sure they did it or someone else even after the video evidence so I’m sharing this experience, and the video, as a warning that Ken’s Plumbing doesn’t take responsibility for their tech’s actionsshow more
