"The service was excellent. Jeff was friendly and professional. He serviced my smoke alarms and gave me recommendations for my outside lighting issues. I had purchased an outside light, but after listening to Jeff, it made more sense to follow his recommendations for lighting. His pricing is fair and reasonable. I will definitely call JEM for future projects."

"This crew (Josh and Nate) arrived promptly as scheduled. Explained how the light would be installed and how it would look (centered/height etc.). As it was one of over 90 degree days, I offered them something cold to drink (ice tea). When I came back in the installers had put carboard down and placed the glasses so that they would not leak on the counter. After installation, everything was swept up and the counter was wiped down. We have had this company work on a generator install and propane line hook up for our stove some time back. The were as pleasant, courteous and showed concern that we were satisfied with every move. I would only want Josh and Nate for furture work!"

"Mike was GREAT! He was on time, worked quickly, and made sure we were satisfied with his work before he left.  Our kids leave the lights on in their closets and in their bathroom.  So, we decided that it was time to put in sensors to save us a bit on our electric bill.  Mike was here promptly at 9am.  He assessed what we needed to be done, quoted us a price, and immediately got to work.  He had all the parts that he needed with him.  He was even able to work around our nosy dog!  It took him a total of an hour and a half to do the work.  Mike was very friendly, answered all of our questions, and just made this experience a pleasant one.  We will most definitely call LED Electrical Services back for anything that we need!

"Knowledgeable, quick, not overpriced. I spent less for parts because he told me I needed a. different switches. Waited in his truck while I made a 20 minute run to do the exchange at Home Depot. Smooth sailing from there, great job."

"Seamless process. William Clubb and his team of professionals made it happen. Hats off to Roman, his grandson and Justin for doing a professional job with no interruption to our busy schedule. Highly recommend Rainbow Irrigation to anyone. They followed up on the job so an A rating is justified."

"KC Flowers has done various jobs for us. We initially started with installing an irrigation system and landscaping for the entire yard. Then we had two separate paver projects completed. Cain and his workers are very hardworking and professional. Highly recommend and will continue to use KC Flowers."

"It went great. The owner immediately responded to my job inquiry and showed up the next day to assess my needs. I had concerns about 'paint overlap' on my new expensive windows but the painter was very precise and conscientious in his work. The color was matched perfectly. I will now hire them to repaint/stain my rear deck and for other projects in the future."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

High-quality landscape lights that are hardwired and properly maintained can last for 10 to 25 years or more. You’ll usually get a longer lifespan from soffit lights and wall-mounted lights that aren’t directly exposed to the elements or prone to damage from foot traffic or vehicle traffic. Solar-powered and battery-powered lights often won’t last as long, but you can still expect a lifespan of five to 15 years.

The five common types of landscape lighting are up-lighting, down-lighting, spotlights, built-in lighting, and pathway lighting.

  • Up-lighting casts light upwards from the ground, mostly for aesthetic purposes.

  • Down-lighting directs light onto the ground, lighting pathways, or outdoor space.

  • Spotlights cast direct, focused lighting in any direction.

  • Built-in lighting integrates lighting into an outdoor feature.

  • Pathway lighting illuminates walkways, increasing safety.

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post

Flickering lights, intermittent outages, or physical damage to fixtures signal immediate repair to avoid electrical hazards.

Replacing a pool light costs about $625 per light. If you only need to replace the light bulb, plan on paying about $20 to $100 per light. The largest cost factors include the type of pool light, the number of pool lights needed, and the labor costs in your location. But additional cost factors include work required on existing wiring, other repairs, and the continual maintenance needed to keep your pool light in good working condition after installation.
