"Palmetto Renovations recently completed our kitchen renovation project. We are very happy with the results and the appearance of our new kitchen. We would especially like to thank Alex N. for all the work he did. He takes pride in his work and is very pleasant and easy to work with. His primary focus is to please the customer and deliver a quality product. We would like to recognize Kimberly P. our designer for her input and incorporating all our vision into the final outcome. Logan did a great job at keeping us informed along the way. We are very pleased with our remodel project by Palmetto Renovations!"

It all started with a trip to the Azores of Portugal. RTA's co-founder went there to meet his wife's family… And had his first encounter with an outdoor kitchen. The charm of that kitchen went far beyond providing meals. It served as an inviting gathering space, and offered moments to break bread together. \n \nThe inspiration from that outdoor kitchen was bottled up and shipped back to the US. Unfortunately, there was a lack of accessible options in America in the early 2010's. Someone needed to rethink the conventional approach of construction. Thus began the journey, with a goal of remastering the outdoor kitchen.

I would highly recommend them not only for my sprinkler system concerns but also for other projects I may have in the future. "We had to get a large retaining wall beside our driveway replaced. There was a very large holly bush that was causing the wall to bulge over the years. The estimates for the wall were all over the place (as high as almost 10k). We received many quotes and we went with Live Oak because their pricing was competitive but especially because they REALLY know their stuff about drainage. They removed the holly, completely replaced the retaining wall, graded the yard after removing old drains and adding a new one, and planted new shrubs. It was a large job and a bit nerve wracking but Tonya was awesome. She was available at any time and would respond to my texts if I had questions (even after hours and on the weekend). We had setbacks with bad weather but since her communication was so great, I wasn't concerned that we were behind schedule. I knew she was on top of it. The end result was a great looking wall."

"I had repeated problems with vinyl siding on my house coming off at the top and had another contractor fix the same problem the year before and it stayed up for less than a year. I spoke with Christian about the problem and he took the time to do the job right as well as fix a couple of bulges I had elsewhere in the siding."

Outdoor Kitchens FAQs, answered by experts

The best types of wood for outdoor kitchen cabinets are those naturally resistant to weather, water, heat, fading, and mold or mildew. Excellent choices include teak, mahogany, white oak, and Brazilian walnut. It's best to avoid softwoods like pine and cedar, as they are more susceptible to damage and can catch fire easily. For extra protection, ensure the wood is pressure-treated. Regardless of the wood you choose, you will need to apply sealants, oils, and stains regularly to protect your cabinets from the elements.

The decision to build or buy an outdoor pizza oven depends on your personal preferences, budget, and time. Whether building is cheaper hinges on the style you choose and the tools and materials you already possess. For example, having a surplus of fire bricks from a previous project can significantly reduce costs. However, if you need to purchase all the required materials, buying a pre-made oven is often the more affordable and less labor-intensive option, with prices for quality versions typically ranging from $300 to $1,000. Keep in mind that while a DIY project can be cheaper than hiring a professional for a custom build, it carries the risk of injury or costly construction errors.

On average, installing a DIY outdoor kitchen costs between $4,550 and $19,000, which is about $1,500 to $6,000 less than having one professionally installed. Many variables factor into the cost of installing an outdoor kitchen, such as the type of material, accessibility to the job site, and the potential costs of hiring a professional electrician or plumber, as well as any necessary permits.

Yes, if you’ve got the skills and patience, you can build your own outdoor kitchen. Outdoor kitchen kits are available in various levels of completion. You can build your own outdoor kitchen simply by matching your DIY skill level with an appropriate kitchen kit, or if you’re already a pro, you can create a complete custom design from your imagination.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.
