"I experienced unfortunate significant water damage from another condo unit requiring a complete kitchen remodel this past summer. The process of hiring good quality workers quickly was of utmost importance and MA Painters and Remodeling were just the people for the job. They were very helpful with the design process and choosing all the new elements to include cabinets, flooring, paint color and backsplash. I would recommend hiring them and will reach to them for any future this time ideally planned renovations."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

If you're looking for ways to save money on custom cabinets, there are a few ways to cut costs without sacrificing beauty. For starters, comparing door styles to choose the most cost-effective option is a great way to save money on the overall project.

In addition, choosing a common wood species versus an exotic one will lower the price. Woods like oak and hickory are often more affordable wood choices, and the same goes for knobs, pulls, and other finishes where picking a commonly available style can reduce costs.

Kitchen remodeling can be as minor as a new coat of paint or as significant as a kitchen expansion to add more space. Some common things to include in a kitchen remodel include:

  • New appliances

  • Fresh flooring

  • New paint on walls or cabinets

  • Luxury countertops

  • New or custom cabinets

  • Lighting fixtures

  • New cabinet hardware

  • Changes in electrical or plumbing locations

  • New sink and faucet

Yes, refacing old kitchen cabinets is doable as long as the cabinet boxes are still structurally sound. Refacing works best when the framework is in good condition, allowing you to update the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces without a full replacement.

Even the least DIY-savvy homeowner can replace cabinet hardware themselves. All you need is a drill, screwdriver, and a tape measure. However, always take the time to measure and fit carefully. Misalignment or dodgy drill holes can spoil the entire look of your cabinet makeover, and repairs or replacement cabinets can be costly.

Common materials used for cabinet refacing include laminate, wood veneers, and thermofoil. These offer varied aesthetic options and durability levels, depending on your budget.
