"Wes was very quick in his response. Wes and Jay came out and repaired my bathroom ceiling. Drywall was replaced then retextured in the same day. Quick and great service. Now I can put my house on the market next week!"

"

Albert?s man came in at 9:30am.  He had the wallpaper and the glue removed by noon, the walls patched (my walls didn?t need much patching) and primed by 2:30pm and the main coat of paint completed by 4:00pm.  He didn?t hesitate when I asked him to also paint/freshen up the trim.  He even walked in with trim paint in his hand and asked about it before I asked.  He did a fantastic job that I refuse to do myself and I do a lot of my own home repair and upgrading.  He covered my new cabinets and countertops to protect them.  He cleaned everything and left no mess of any kind.

I highly recommend Albert?s team of good hard workers that take the time to do the job right and attention to detail.  I?ll be calling them back in a few months to repaint my entire family room.  Thank you Albert for the great job.

"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

"Bo is very professional, very polite, and just an all-around great guy. He did a great job pressure washing my aluminum sided house, fixed a sagging gutter, removed some mildew from my deck, and was wonderful to work with. Will absolutely hire again!"

"We were impressed from the moment we called McCoy Plumbing. They were responsive and able to get us on the schedule quickly. Two guys arrived promptly and I walked them around and told / showed them the issues. One of the technicians was quick to point out some scenarios regarding our toilet and offered cost effective solutions in case the part on his truck did not fit our model / make toilet. We had dealt with the leaking outdoor spigot for several years because a previous plumber told us it could be a very costly / disastrous repair due to the spigot being placed higher on the wall, meaning that a cut would be needed in our drywall on the interior to replace the spigot. The technician with McCoy did not seem concerned about replacing the spigot, but did explain that we would be responsible for the drywall repair. He made a very neat cut in the drywall and replaced the spigot and made the whole job "look easy". We have not had any issues since it was replaced. We were lucky that they had the right size flushing mechanism for the toilet and the PVC repair on our well line was also quick and without complication. Overall, we were impressed with how quickly and neatly they worked and the quality of the repairs. We were even more pleased with the reasonable price for the several hours spent and multiple repairs completed. Total price was $320 - with the "Big Deal", our total cost was $270."

"I needed some drywall repair and painting done after a plumbing leak that caused water damage. I called 3 contractors about the job. One didn’t show for the estimate appointment, another couldn’t get me in for at least a month, but Bill called me back within 5 minutes and came the next day to give me an estimate. He had the work done inside of a week (finishing up on his birthday!) and even caught and repaired a small plumbing problem for me. The best thing about Bill is his responsiveness. He always got back to me nearly immediately. That is so hard to find in a contractor. Overall, Bill is an honest guy, who does a good job, and cares about his customers. I will certainly use him again this year for additional projects and would recommend him to others."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.

Regular dusting, occasional repainting, and avoiding harsh scrubbing preserve the finish.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Mudding drywall is a DIY-friendly project, but patience and practice are required for perfection. If you’re working in a highly visible area and want the best possible finish, hiring a professional drywaller is worth the cost. Pros have the tools and know-how to ensure a smooth surface with fewer sanding sessions and less cleanup.

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.
