Customers say: Quick response

"The owner was very easy to work with. The price was reasonable for the work done. The fence was torn down by the recent hurricane. They replaced it with a much better gate and retaining piece. The workers were prompt, they made sure they greeted me and my spouse. They showed me how everything worked after they were finished. A great experience and pretty fast response after a big storm. Thanks and will hire again in the future."

"I had to replace most of the deck at my house in Mt Pleasant, due to an unforeseen plumbing emergency. Sam made it so easy. He met with me so we were clear on the project, he got started a few days later, he completed everything and left a clean job site, then he gave me a reasonable time to inspect his work before I paid him. Iâ m going to get a fence quote from him next. Highly recommend!"

"Vendor answered his phone. Set up an appointment to visit the repair site. Arrived on time. Presented a fair estimate. Provided a written statement of work listing all particulars. Carpenter arrived on time. Worked continuously for about 10-12 hrs replacing front external steps. Board cuts created tight 45 degree picture-frame fittings. The overall work was very well done. Painting was not included. If I need add'l or new work, I will call this firm and definitely recommend them."

"Freeman Repair and Remodel was very professional from start to finish. From the initial consultation wherein we discussed and finalized an overall design/construction plan to the final execution, Derek and his team came every morning and worked all day until the project was complete. I would hire them again in an instant!"

"I had lots of damaged cement fiber siding on my home and I’m so glad I found LITN. Joe took as much time as necessary to understand what my siding issue was and came up with a repair plan that included replacement of a large amount of siding and painting the whole home. The team did a great job with the repair and the paint job left my neighbors envious of the home’s high quality new look. This home looks better than it was built. I’m so thrilled with the outcome and highly recommend LITN. There is a reason they have a high rating and they deserve it."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.
