About us
I HAVE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED MY BUSINESS UNTIL I RECOVER FROM LEFT HIP AND RIGHT KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY. I WILL BE RESUMING WORK AS SOON AS I AM PHYSICALLY ABLE TO DO SO, OFFERING THE SAME QUALITY WORKMANSHIP AS IN THE PAST. Finish Carpentry Services is committed to to delivering quality woodworking and personalized service to our customers. Our business was established in 1985, doing primarily interior trim work, but also designing, building & installing cabinets in custom homes ranging in size from 2500 to 13,000 square ft. In 2011 the recession made it necessary to lay off entire 4 man crew, and I registered with Angie's List with interior trim and cabinets remaining the specialty of the business, but also doing jobs in other categories of carpentry (see categories listed in our ad). Six consecutive Super Service Awards show our commitment to quality and service, which is the guarantee that we stand behind our work . "It is difficult to know how to respond to such a review. First, I never did any work for this customer. When she contacted me I was in the 4th or 5th month of recovery after knee replacement surgery, but I returned to work after about 2 1/2 months after a brief rehab. I had a backlog of jobs and was working long days and as quickly as my knee would allow, trying to catch up. In hindsight, I probably should have referred this customer to another contractor. When I meet with a customer I give them as much information as possible in "laymen's terms" without overwhelming them with details. I want them to understand how their project will proceed, the costs involved, and the level of quality they may expect. I do not try to impress them with "trade language", and I do not brag about my work. By the time this customer contacted me the second time my knee had completely healed, but the month before she called me I had an unfortunate accident coming down off a step ladder, my only ladder mishap in 35 years. I landed on my elbow on a concrete floor and suffered a compound fracture. This customer did call me in the morning for her second project, but I failed to tell her about my elbow injury which was slowing my pace of work. I did not want a recurrence of the first experience with this customer, so I called her back to let her know that I was working at a slow pace and it would affect my ability to complete her job. Apparently she did not want to hear that, and she abruptly said she found someone else and hung up. I am sad how this all worked out, but I can only move forward and do my best to not have a repeat of this situation. I am just thankful that I am still able to work. I am not suffering "memory loss". I keep my appointments, have never not completed a job, and I respond to all customer requests for work, even if they are not related to my trade. I plan to continue providing quality workmanship as long as I am physically able."
