"We had some sheet rock water damage in our master closet which we traced to the roof vent for our Range hood. We called Ridge Roofing and had an appointment set up in a couple of days, Due to some weather damage Ridge Roofing was swamped on the appointed day, however we were notified promptly and were rescheduled for the next day, I am very happy that we were kept up to date and understand completely how things can get jammed up. Dustin Lee showed up the following day on time and after looking at our vent determined that the vent itself and the connection to the roof sheathing and the surrounding shingles were in good order and that the only thing that needed to be done was to remove and replace the tape that connects the duct to the vent. I am extremely happy with the results and Dustin refused any payment for his time. We will definitely be relying on Dustin and Ridge Roofing for any future roofing requirements."

"Repaired. We appreciate that MBG did not try and sell us a new roof. They are very professional. The roof is repaired. What more could you ask for. We will hire them again when needed."

"Jaron Shupe at ATD did a great job on helping us submit the claim with our insurance for a re-inspection of our roof as first inspection did not yield approval for our roof to be replaced due to hail damage. Once approved his team did a great job on the roof replacement. They also laid tarp all around the house and protected the plants on the front of the house from being damaged."

""I highly recommend Consumer First Roofing! They recently replaced the roof on my home and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. James was incredibly communicative and clearly explained the scope of work, timeline, and material options. The crew was punctual, worked efficiently, and did an outstanding job protecting my landscaping. They even did a thorough magnet sweep to clean up all the old nails. My new Atlas Pinnacle roof looks fantastic and we couldn't be happier with the final result!""

Roofing questions, answered by experts

This will depend on your existing roof to some degree, but it’s common to raise a roof 4 to 8 feet. The exact amount you can raise is subject to the existing structure. For most homes with average roof slopes—20 to 45 degrees—you can raise the roof around 5 feet.

The least suitable roof for solar panels is a wood shake roof. An electrical mishap with your solar panels could start a fire on the roof, so some areas don’t allow solar panels on wood roofs. You don’t have to let a wood roof stop you from going solar. You can replace your wood shakes with shingles. Installing the panels on the ground is another option.

While two-layer torch down roofs are easier to install than three-layer roofing, it is best not to DIY the installation. Torch down roofs require expert knowledge of the application process to get it right the first time and prevent leaks or poor craftsmanship, not to mention that roof work can be dangerous.

Complete house winterization goes above and beyond the list we created above. In addition to everything listed, full house winterization also includes:

  • Performing a home energy audit.

  • Preparing your deck and patio for winter.

  • Learning how to start a snowblower.

  • Replacing smoke detector batteries.

  • Installing outlet gaskets.

  • Installing storm doors.

How long shingles last depends on the type of shingles you have on your roof. Asphalt shingles normally last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, metal shingles can last anywhere from 15 to 100 years, and tile shingles can last anywhere from 50 to 100 years or more.
