"Fantastic! The guys at KW are great to work with. I had some grading work in addition to the driveway that really wasn’t driveway related. They did that work and the driveway with no issues. Their prices were very fair and they did the work quickly."

"They were very professional with their work , customer service orienter, friendly and polite. Will definitely use them again. We had several estimates but when Bil explained how he would install it so the rain would drain off and no one else cared to mention that. He won us over!"

"Initially I was visiting Angie’s List looking for a company to replace some siding on my house. While doing my search I came across Counts Contracting Company.  A friend recommended Counts Contracting company to me for paving my driveway because I am so satisfied with the results of this company I decided to submit this review.  Mr. Counts gave me a fair price and completed the job two days faster than promised. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work as well as the cleanliness of  his crew.  Mr. Counts was prompt returning my calls as well as finishing the driveway. Wow the driveway looks great!  "

"I contacted several landscape companies to get quotes and very few had all the landscaping services in house. Once I reached Outdoor Life, I knew I had found the right engineering and landscaping professionals for the job. Bill Botkin and Dan Cachelin were involved in every phase of the project. Dan handles the designs and met with me several times to get my expectations. He was very easy to work with and, after a few small tweaks to Dan's original design, we arrived on a plan that was beautiful and within my budget. Thanks in part to his recommendations for fencing and stone choices, I was even able to afford LED lighting for the project. Dan's detailed design also helped me gain quick approval from my HOA Architecture Committee. The Outdoor Life crew started in late June and finished the job about a month later. The result is an oasis of beauty and calm right in my backyard."

"He answered my call right away. He worked around my very busy schedule. They installed Millings in my parking and walk ways and front culvert along the road for weed control! The crew was very polite and went above and beyond. I had a hard project that had lots of fences to work around and objects , and he did a great job getting everything packed in and was very reasonable with the price."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

You can expect your asphalt pavement to last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, or 25 years on average. The life expectancy of your asphalt driveway depends on the climate, the amount of traffic, and how well you maintain it. While you can’t necessarily control some of these factors, you can control the amount of maintenance effort you put into your driveway.

To prevent your asphalt from deteriorating prematurely, you should follow a good maintenance routine involving regular cleaning, reparation work, and resealing.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

A driveway's lifespan varies by material. Asphalt driveways typically last 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last longer, between 20 and 50 years. The longevity of any driveway is affected by factors like extreme temperatures, heavy traffic, and the quality of maintenance. Regular upkeep, such as filling cracks, resealing the surface, and ensuring proper drainage, can help extend its life. For gravel driveways, regrading to fill in uneven areas every year or two is recommended.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.
