"Awful. Bob Dewhurst started the job on March 1, 2021. Was supposed to take 3-5 days. As of May 27, 2021 he has not completed our bathroom and the work that has been done needs to be redone. Shower pan leaks, Onyx walls are bowing, there is a crack in one of the Onyx walls that his crew tried to hide from us with silicone. We have paid him money and he will complete job. If you use him make sure you have an attorney on retainer."

This site has not forwarded over a dozen quote requests. I recommend you contact me directly. Carolinas, if your tub, shower or wall tile is hard to clean, dull, chipped, cracked, stained, or just a color you do not like. AMERICAN TUB has the solution you are looking for, RECYCLE instead of replacing and $ave your money with affordable refinishing where the work matters to me because it matters to you. After years of abrasive cleaners and harsh minerals in the water, the glossy shine wears away, opening up microscopic pores in the surface that allow dirt to settle in making it almost impossible to keep clean. Refinishing puts a new gloss coat on, filling the pores and making it easy to clean. So easy, in fact, that abrasive cleaners are not needed and should never be used again.

"Very knowledge, friendly, and helpful! Great work and great price! He has completed two tubs in my house and if I had more, I would use him for those also!"

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

Of the two most common and affordable bathtub materials, acrylic is notably better. Though fiberglass is cheaper, it is also more prone to scratching, chipping, fading, and cracking. Acrylic holds up better to wear and tear, cleaning, and sun exposure; the slight cost increase is usually worth the increased longevity.

A bathtub liner is a one-piece insert that goes on top of your tub to conceal cracks, blemishes, and discoloration. Liners are made from acrylic or PVC plastic. It’s best to purchase a custom bathtub liner that matches your existing tub's size, shape, and contours, but premade liners are less expensive and also get the job done. Some bathtub liners come with a wall or shower surround to refurbish the area above the bathtub.

No. You should let the caulk completely dry before you expose it to moisture. It’s safest to wait at least a full day before showering where you’ve recently caulked. Showering before caulk is fully dry can lead to a poor seal, meaning water can seep into cracks and cause damage and mold growth.

While certain kits make DIY possible, professionals ensure durability and quality of finish, which is vital for high-moisture areas like baths.

Yes, you can use Epsom salt in a refinished bathtub. The salt will not harm the new glaze finish chemically, although it may rough up the surface finish a bit. Consult a professional bathtub refinisher prior to using Epsom salt on your bathtub to ensure it won’t damage its finish.
