"We were referred to Kitchen Tune-up by a friend who had used them successfully on two occasions. Mike was very prompt and came to our home early one Friday evening to make his presentation. He presented everything clearly and professionally. He had several recommendations to customize our space. He also has a good business relationship with a local counter fabricator. Based on his professionalism, fair price and the fact that he hand-makes the cabinets himself, we decided to go with Mike and Kitchen Tune-up for the cabinets and his recommended company for counters. Mike was an invaluable asset in the process. If we had any questions or concerns, Mike immediately addressed them. He was extremely helpful and patient. We really felt like we got a design consultant for no extra charge! The cabinet installation went very smoothly. The Kitchen Tune-up crew was able to come a day early. They paid great attention to detail and worked hard to make sure everything was right. The final cost was very fair and exactly as Mike had quoted. We are extremely happy with Kitchen Tune-up and our new kitchen looks beautiful. We strongly recommend them for anyone looking for a great product and professional installation at a fair price."

"Dennis is the absolute best! I recently had a bathroom vanity installed, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The entire process was smooth from start to finish. Dennis was professional, punctual, and clearly skilled at his craft. Dennis paid great attention to detail, ensuring the vanity was perfectly aligned, securely fitted, and seamlessly connected to the plumbing. The workspace was kept clean throughout the project, and everything was thoroughly cleaned up afterward. The finished vanity looks fantastic and has completely elevated the look and functionality of my bathroom. I truly appreciate the quality workmanship and would highly recommend Dennis to anyone looking for someone reliable and efficient."

Small jobs welcome

"Changed our 1960 kitchen and made it look like a kitchen built in 2020. It really exceeded our expectations. We refaced our kitchen in order to sell our house next year. We will have no problem selling this house. We were home the entire time our installer worked on the kitchen. The guy worked hard and he did a great job. I consider myself handy, but I wouldn't taken this project on. Glad we didn't decide to paint. Everyone that sees our kitchen loves it, For reasons I can't explain, they think the kitchen is larger. That is okay with us. If you are okay with your kitchen's layout and the cabinet frames are okay, then this is the way to go."

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

Whether you install flooring before or after kitchen cabinets depends primarily on the type of flooring you are using. For materials like hardwood, tile, and sheet flooring, the best practice is to install the flooring first. This ensures the cabinets are installed at the correct height and on a stable surface. However, you should not install cabinets on top of floating floors, such as laminate or luxury vinyl plank (LVP). These types of flooring need room to expand and contract with temperature and humidity changes. Placing heavy cabinets on top can restrict this movement, potentially causing the floor to buckle and making the cabinets unstable. For floating floors, install the cabinets first and then lay the flooring up to them. Other reasons to consider installing cabinets before the flooring include saving money on materials (since you won't need flooring under the cabinets) and avoiding potential damage to your new floor during cabinet installation. Additionally, installing cabinets directly on the subfloor might prevent voiding your flooring's warranty.

No, and that’s why adding kitchen cabinets to the ceiling is popular! Whether you match the color of your existing cabinets or not, you can still paint your cabinet boxes with them attached to the wall—making this project much less invasive.

Kitchen base cabinets are the cabinets that sit on the floor in your kitchen—and yes, you can stack base cabinets. Usually, homeowners stack kitchen base cabinets when building a pantry. Base cabinets come in various styles, with doors, drawers, and glass fronts—so your options for creating stacked base cabinets are endless.

To install cabinet doors evenly, it’s important to make sure that all drilled holes and hardware are in their right places and aligned properly. You can achieve the ideal placement by using a level, straightedge, or other measuring tool. In the event that your cabinet doors are not installed evenly, most hinges allow you to adjust them so that your doors can be perfectly lined up.

The 1/3 rule is a design guideline used by interior designers and cabinet installers to select appropriately sized pulls for cabinets and drawers. The rule suggests that for a balanced and cohesive look, a cabinet pull should be approximately one-third the height of the cabinet door or one-third the width of the drawer face. This guideline helps create a symmetrical appearance because the human eye tends to follow the length of the pull across the cabinet face.

While the 1/3 rule is a helpful starting point, it is not the only option. If a measurement falls between available pull sizes, it's generally best to size up. For an ultra-contemporary aesthetic, you can also opt for full-width pulls that span the entire drawer.
