While keeping any critter away permanently isn’t always possible, you can keep mice away from your home by setting traps, fumigating your space, and sealing known entry points. Once you’ve taken these steps, take time to work on prevention measures, such as clearing out all clutter and recyclables and removing all food sources.

Mites hate dry conditions, extreme temperatures, and specific scents. Since they prefer humid environments, eliminating moisture inside your home can help kill them off. If you have essential oils at your disposal, you can use eucalyptus, rosemary, and clove to help get rid of and keep mites at bay.

Always begin by removing the gnat's source of food. Toss rotting fruit, place new fruit in the fridge, and switch the soil of your houseplants. 

The best way to get rid of gnats in the kitchen is by baiting and trapping them with something sweet. Combine water with a few drops of dish soap, apple cider vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of sugar into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and poke small holes to trap the gnat in the liquid.

Scented mouse deterrents, like peppermint oil, can be effective in the short term. The pungent smells may temporarily repel mice, but they lose effectiveness as the scent fades or mice get used to it. The main drawbacks are frequent reapplication and the fact that these deterrents don't address the root cause of the infestation, such as entry points or food sources. While they can be part of a broader strategy, scented deterrents alone are rarely enough to eliminate a mouse problem.

The length of time it will take for an exterminator to successfully get rid of roaches in your home depends on the type of roach, the severity of the infestation, and the extermination method. While some smaller infestations may be effective within 1 to 3 days, most exterminations take around 2 to 8 weeks to work completely. More severe infestations can take up to 6 months to fully get rid of cockroaches.
