Bob Bedford founded Bedford Builders in 2003, after earning a degree in building construction and cabinet making from New England Institute of Technology and working with some of the greatest contractors and trades people in the region. While primarily focused on renovating one and two-family dwellings, Bob is experienced with historic renovation, commercial fit-outs and custom fabrication. Clients are continually impressed with his detailed and accurate written estimates, high levels of communication throughout the process, and building trade knowledge, as well as his personal involvement on every job. In 2014, the company changed its name to Bedford Builders Remodeling, LLC. Bob has trained with the RI State Building Code Commissioner and has passed the required testing and granted the certification to become a building inspector on 1 & 2 Family Dwellings as well as the State Building Code (Commercial). He takes seriously the responsibility to comply with current building codes and standards, no matter what the project. Quality work, professionalism and an eye for detail remain the hallmarks of every Bedford Builders Remodeling job. Acting as general contractor for each project, the Bedford Builders Remodeling team manages the entire project from start to finish, including architect interaction, estimating, coordinating skilled specialty subcontractors, arranging for permits and inspections, scheduling, and on-site supervision to ensure the work is being done properly and to your satisfaction. Our clients can rest assured knowing that thorough background checks and drug screens are performed on all our employees. In addition, all our sub contractors must maintain and provide updated licensure and insurance proof to obtain and maintain their pre-approved status with us. FREE DISPOSAL FOR ALL JOBS OVER $10k

Welcome to ZMH Construction, LLC! Zacarias, has 20 years of experience. He covers the local area of Cumberland. He works fast and efficiently, while always putting the customer first. Please give him a call for any bathroom or kitchen remodels, you will not regret! Thank you!

"The project, rebuilding our second floor bathroom, went well from start to finish. Steps were taken every day to prevent dust and dirt from getting around our house. When they were demolishing walls, they bagged all wallboard and other materials as they were carried it out, to prevent the spread of dust and dirt throughout the house. The owner is extremely knowledgeable in all the trades and worked to achieve perfection in every aspect of the project. He checked with us when he had any questions about the products or materials we had chosen. He discussed tile patterns with us and spent significant time sorting and arranging the 24 square tiles to achieve the most pleasing arrangements possible. He made sure all the finishing details were completed. The project went smoothly from start to finish. We appreciate all his planning and effort. We Love Our New Bathroom"

Rick grew up in a family of hard working contractors, and has been learning the skills of the trade since a very young age. He brings to the table a high level of expertise that is often hard to come by, and will always take the time to get the job done right.

"Rick was very responsive at first and eager to get started on my bathroom remodel job for one of my apartments. He is commended for having to respond to quote request fast. I decided to give him a chance to do a good job before handing a bigger jobs for my other properties. Before the work started, I emphasized that the dust control and cleanup was very, very important to me. The job involved lots of demolition work inside the apartment - naturally, there will be lots of dust. The apartment is currently occupied and has lots of furniture, computers and audio equipment that I wanted to protect. I thought he and his workers were communicated this request. I even offered the use of dust control fan and Zip Wall to isolate the work area but he said he will be fine without them. Once the job started, I was away for one week to take care of my family. When I returned, I discovered that the door to the adjacent room was left open. That is my office with all the equipment and important papers. They left their construction material and equipment in this room. I was horrified that there are fine dust everywhere - on my printer, computer peripherals, furniture. I brought this issue up with Rick. Nothing happened. The worst part was that the job was declared done and I paid the service in full - They never returned to clean up and pickup the equipment. After almost a whole month, the supply and equipment is still there. I had to spend extra time cleaning up after their mess. Very unprofessional. Lessons learned. Do not pay the balance until all the cleaning is done and all the equipment removed. I expect the clean up and dust control to be a part of the job. I also repeatedly asked or professionally prepared invoices with vendor name and address, job details and the most important of all, the invoice number - all of these essential information is important to keep track of expenses for my projects. The SMS texts message and e-mail messages were not appropriate for this purpose. I explained to Rick that my CPA requires them many times. I even sent him a sample invoice and quote in Microsoft Word template - he never understood what I was asking. He is a nice guy, but not a good project manager or competent business person. The work was done, however, the work quality is fair to good - I had to go back and correct some sloppy work. Lacking attention to details and follow up bothered me. The biggest issues is the lack of clean up and keeping the worksite cleans so he and his crew gets an F. I do not think I will be hiring his company in my future projects."

"He hired Tom Harrop to install kitchen cabinets and a heater under the kitchen sink, vinal flooring, plastering in a small area, add ceiling lighting and a shiplap ceiling. Once the work was done I asked Tom to do a walk through and he refused saying he stood behind his empoyees work. Here are the PROs and CONs. PROs: 1.) work was completed in a timely fashion 2) they did a beautiful job on the shiplap ceiling and lighting. CONs: 1) The brand new white cabinets had some nicks requiring paint touch up. 2) Terrible job on the floors! Uneven spots, lengths are uneven at the edges, gaps showing, no finish work. Terrible job!! 3) plastering looks like it wasn't even done! And there is some peeling of paint on the plaster job. Terrible job!!! 4) we were promised and paid for an under the kitchen sink heater which we never received. Called multiple times with no response. Lesson learned, will never use Tom Harrop again!!"

"Very happy with the basement. Work actually started 2-3 weeks earlier than expected. We were told the job would last about 4-5 weeks. Basement work was completed in about 4 weeks. Very professional. No worries about whether the plumber or electrician would be available. We discussed small changes to the layout (e.g., where the sink in the bathroom would be located) and everyone was very accommodating."

Repair Granite Countertops questions, answered by experts

Since marble is a porous material, it is more prone to water spots than other countertop options. Fortunately, pure water doesn’t damage your marble, but if the water is acidic, it can cause stains or water spots. Resealing throughout the year can help increase marble’s water resistance, too.

Yes, onyx is more expensive than granite because of its rarity, delicate nature, and specialized care. Its luxurious appearance and ability to be backlit also add to the cost, making it a premium choice for homeowners.

Granite and marble compare well against each other in terms of price, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Deciding which one is better depends on your personal style and preference. Both materials resist damage like chips and cracks well. You should seal both material types against staining and etching, but they’re still susceptible if oil, wine, coffee, tomato sauce, or juice are left on the countertop long enough. As material and installation costs range similarly, the deciding factor is your budget, design, and preferences.

It all comes down to rarity and demand. Granite rocks with unique patterns or rare colorways like red, purple, and blue are more expensive than traditional designs. Some types of blue granite are extremely rare, like Azul Aran and Blue Bahia, driving the price up even further. The most expensive type of all is a unique design called Van Gogh granite. As the name suggests, it sort of looks like a painting.

Baking soda can damage some countertops, but it makes an excellent mild abrasive for removing stains on other countertops. For example, never use baking soda on quartz or glass countertops, but you can use it on laminate and tile. Stay away from using it on quartz because it can scratch and damage the counter, and glass is prone to scratches. Since baking soda is a mild abrasive, you can only use it on certain surfaces.
