"ECC is AWESOME!! From talking with Lisa, who scheduled EVERYTHING!! to Ed the gentleman who came out and estimated the job, to Tony, his son and Jane (the installers) everything was seamless!! The communication was EXCELLENT!! Lisa is excellent at keeping me informed about the process and following up when things were done. I can’t say enough about Tony and his crew!! He went above and beyond my expectations! He even RE-routed a condensation pipe to the gutter so it wouldn’t keep dripping onto my shingles!! Just an amazing company!! Would ( and have) recommend them to everyone I know for their HVAC needs"

"Adam and Nate were very prompt, polite and thorough. They replaced the two hvac systems at my home. They worked quietly and cleaned up after themselves. They provided me the best bid with the lowest cost and the earliest delivery time and they delivered. The job was done on time and on budget. I would definitely use AAC again."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, or ASHRAE, sets the standard guidelines for air changes per hour in homes and businesses. The International Residential Code, or IRC, also sets ACH requirements for residences and bases those requirements off of ASHRAE standards plus climate specifics related to your location.

While it's generally safe to stay in a home with a coolant leak if your home is properly ventilated, it's important to have a professional come out to assess the situation right away. You should evacuate your home if you notice any powerful fumes. Additionally, you should leave your home if you are experiencing headaches or dizziness.

AC evaporator coils should be cleaned at least once per year to keep your unit in good condition. For optimal performance, consider cleaning them twice a year—once before and once after the main cooling season. More frequent cleanings may be necessary for older systems, units with performance issues, or those in climates with high levels of humidity, dust, and dirt.

Most units are designed only to cool the house down to 20 degrees less than the temperature outside. This means that if it’s 99 degrees Fahrenheit out and you’re trying to cool your home down to 65 degrees, you’ll notice your AC is struggling.

Lower the blinds on all your windows, turn on your ceiling fans, and keep the thermostat at a consistent temperature to help your AC do its job. Investing in an HVAC maintenance plan also helps because pros will come out to inspect and tune up your unit regularly, keeping it in optimal working condition.

Yes, scorpions can enter a home through AC vents, especially if the system is not well-sealed. As excellent climbers, they can scale a home's exterior and squeeze through gaps as small as 1/16 of an inch. Scorpions are often attracted to the moisture around air conditioning ducts or seek cooler areas during hot weather, using vents as a pathway inside. They may slip through small openings where the duct meets the vent cover and travel within walls before emerging. To prevent this, inspect your vents, seal any gaps, and consider installing fine mesh screens.
