"Bob Cullen was referred to us by our plumber after we had a horrific experience with a general contractor. We had already purchased most of the materials for our full bathroom remodel, which were sitting in our dining room. Bob not only got us on his schedule as soon as possible, but he truly took away all of our anxiety during a very stressful time. It was immediately evident upon meeting him that Bob is the consummate professional. He is extremely reliable and trustworthy. He explained everything to us, including different options and construction materials, in a very clear way. His price was very reasonable, and he was willing to do everything we wanted, including time-consuming cutouts in the shower. He was an excellent communicator, and kept us aware of the timetable during each phase of the project. He was so personable and easy to work with that it was truly a pleasure to have him and his assistant, Jesse, in our home. Everything was beautifully executed, and the tile work he did was absolutely fantastic. It is so refreshing to meet someone who is honest, talented, and has such pride in his work. We would never considering using anyone else as long as Bob is in business."

"J&N finished on time and on budget. They were able to chase down some trim that was hard to find, but necessary to match existing trim. They cleaned up the areas at the end of each day. Drywall and painting looks perfect. They came to us highly recommended by a retired general contractor."

"Doug was affable and punctual and gave us a reasonable estimate for the job. Unfortunately, we saw very little of him after that: his workers (also very friendly and punctual) openly admitted to us that they had very little idea about the project they were working on, that not much had been explained to them. It was difficult to communicate with Doug about design/issues that came up since that communication almost never happed in person, only via text, and it became clear that the project was not clearly thought out before being initiated (by us or by Doug, although we would have hoped that as the professional, he would have foreseen some of the issues that arose). Ultimately, we asked him to stop working on the project without its being completed after his team drilled into the basement concrete without covering vents or warning us to do so (he later told us he thought he would have been "smart enough" to foresee the preparation needed for him to install a drain in the basement), resulting in a thick layer of concrete dust covering all of our possessions throughout our whole home, necessitating hours of cleaning on our part. Since then, having found other non-Angie's List contractors to complete the unfinished work, every single one of them have offered harsh critiques Furko Construction's planning and execution, which is of course very frustrating for us to hear. My real critique though is not of Furko Construction, but of Angie's List: multiple times now we have employed a top rated contractor from Angie's List and that contractor has been (although all very friendly and prompt with estimates) a mistake. The contractors who have done good work for us have warned that Angie's List is deceptive in its ratings/reviews and that businesses can pay for the standing they have, corrupting the idea that good work leads to a good rating or prominent placement. I'm not sure what merit there is to this idea, but we will not be using Angie's List again after this experience. Furko Construction means well, but ultimately does not plan well, follow through, or take responsibility for mistakes."

"I donâ  t know where to begin to say how satisfied I am with A & J Contracting! I needed my basement renovated ASAP and Mr. Anthony met with me in a timely manner explaining in great detail the work he would perform and how pleased I would be! Let me tell you he did NOT disappoint because he and his partner Mark performed what I call a â  miracleâ  in renovating my basement and went above and beyond my expectations!!!! Iâ  ve shown many the before and after pictures of what I now can call my family room and the response each time was how â  beautifulâ  of a job Anthony did!! If you are in need a great contractor donâ  t look anywhere else but A & J Contractor and call Anthony NOW! My family still canâ  t believe what A & J Contractor did with that old and in bad shape basement!! Very professional and the many years of experience really was on display!! "Once started the work was done quickly. The original scope of work for concrete finish was changed at my request to use exposed aggregate making the pad look like one single pour. Wow, looks great, money well spent. Gable roof with cathedral ceiling and finishes match perfectly. Looks like it has always been part of the house. Light landscaping was also provided to repair lawn from construction damage. This was done by the contractor without charge or my request. There was a small leak that the contractor repaired after several trips. This was resolved to my satisfaction. The point here is the contractor took responsibility and returned until this was resolved. We love our new patio, it’s perfect!"
