"Guest Bath & Master Bath Remodel. Richardson Contracting did not disappoint. Alan, the Lead Technician for Interior Design, carefully reviewed the scope of the projects, helped pick products, and stayed on top of the projects from start to finish. He was always available to take my calls and kept me informed. Jon, the In-Field Foreman, is extremely knowledgeable and an outstanding craftsman. He considers every detail important and takes pride in his work. Everyone was courteous and respectful and showed up on time. Very impressed with level of communication and quality of work. Started and completed work on time."

"the coming out and inspection of area was great and they sent the original quote in an agreeable, if not a little slow, time. however they missed one item of estimate which they corrected. however, when I requested they split the two room I was told they would but they never came at the agreed time. i called several times as i needed for the insurance, the price seemed reasonable and i was going to use, the person denied he agreed to re-quote each room on its own and told me unless i paid i was not receiving any quote. i am actually relieved, u think i dodged a horrible situation. i cannot recommend however it would not be fair to advise against using the company, as i think the paperwork and not the repair work is what they are lacking."

"Willis and his team were extremely professional and responsive. The work was great quality. They were neat and kept the area clean every day after they finished. They were very respectful with the rest of the house and carefully taped off the areas that they were working in so as not to spread dust to the living areas. Willis was very easy to work with and responsive to all our requests."

"Tom was very personable and nice to speak with both when he visited our home as well as our meeting in the showroom. However as this was not our only estimate it was apparent that the quality of cabinets and materials as well as the ability of the installers was limited compared to other companies we had spoken with. Some examples would be that the items in the showroom seemed outdated compared to other products and materials we had seen and actually a lot like what we were trying to replace. When we spoke about our ceiling which continues into a family room and how to update the kitchen lighting without having to repaint and replace the entire family room ceiling the suggestion was to nail trim to the ceiling and thus create a break in a floor plan that is supposed to be one large room. When we asked about under cabinet lighting the suggestion was that since that involved a lot of electrical work that we could purchase stick up lights at Lowes afterwards. This seemed crazy given the cost of new cabinets. While their quote was the least cost of others it also was clear that it was not going to be a kitchen we would be happy with. For those who are extremely budget minded I think this would be a good option but otherwise if you want anything even remotely higher end this is not the place.

Glass Block FAQs, answered by experts

New glass costs anywhere from $3 to $100 per square foot. More specifically, tempered and insulated glass—a common option for sliding glass doors—costs between $10 and $14 per square foot.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.

Options include tempered, laminated, and tinted glass for various needs.

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.
