"I can’t say enough Good things about Rick Page Quality Landscaping and his staff, they installed a new retaining wall, two paver patios, repaired my steps and installed yard drainage. They were there every day on time and when they were done for the day they cleaned up. The work they did at my home is beautiful,I’ve had many people stop by and tell me how beautiful my property looks. "Les and his crew greatly enhanced our above ground pool area with a beautiful plan that brings us much enjoyment. We have received many compliments about their work and we've recommended Sunny Landscaping to our friends and family. This year, we had Les fully redo the landscaping around our Cape Cod home. They did an amazing job with planning and the selection of shrubs and plants. They are a truly professional business with kind, courteous workers who are truly talented in their field. They offer guidance and support when we asked questions concerning care and maintenance . Outstanding job!"

"Darin was great about adjusting the plan to meet our budget and still provide a great result. The installers (Angel and Josh) were fantastic, doing the job quickly and efficiently. They had to dig through our yard to run wiring, but youd never know that from looking at the yard when they left. And the final result makes us want to sit across the street and stare at our house at night. Highly recommended."

"Daily Landscaping did a wonderful job replacing a woodchip pad at my house with a beautiful patio with paver stones. They were professional, on-time, prepared, and efficient with completion of the job. I had no idea that the space where the woodchip pad was could look so good! This definitely increased the value of my home, and I will enjoy it for years to come! Highly recommend!!!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

While you can leave roots in the ground, if you don’t want the shrub to regrow again over time, it’s best not to leave any roots behind. Ensure you remove as much of the shrub as possible, including the root ball and any main roots you can see, to prevent new growth. Some gardeners opt for using a chemical treatment to prevent the stump from growing back, but this can kill beneficial microorganisms living in your soil.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

If you are xeriscaping a lawn from scratch, your best bet for preparing the lawn is to work with a xeriscaping specialist in your area. The most common first step to making the transformation, however, will be to remove the turfgrass from your lawn. The subsequent steps will often include amending the soil to support new plants and installing low-drip or drip irrigation systems.

The best landscaping for a septic drain field is shallow-rooted grass or native vegetation that helps prevent soil erosion while allowing water to evaporate efficiently. Avoid planting trees, shrubs, or deep-rooted plants near the drain field because the roots can infiltrate pipes and cause blockages. Using mulch or gravel sparingly can also help retain moisture and protect the system without restricting airflow.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.
