Alex was very thorough, polite and courteous. Very clean there were no old materials left around and all the work done exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Alex for all of your home repairs. "They came when they said they would, the product (vinyl planking for a split stairway) looked nice both before and after installation. There was a gap on the side of one step and molding was needed on the two bottom steps, but the installer called his office and got approval to fix both after discussing options with me. They had to make a second trip since they did not have molding in a matching color in their truck, but were very nice about the whole thing. Looks great!"

"I highly recommend Pro Solutions. We had some challenges locating an installer for 6"x 36" porcelain planks on concrete slab. We were referred to Guy and from the beginning we were comfortable having his team do the work. Communication was excellent and they (Guy, Dennis, Anthony & Josh) were all quite professional, experienced and competent. The end result is a beautiful looking floor at a very reasonable price. We were fortunate to find them and look forward to contacting them for future projects."

"I found Ronald Peters to be honest and his work is just fabulous! He worked within our budget and gave us options. He took down concrete steps that were just awful and replaced it with a wood deck that will eventually be a front porch, with an overhang (will have him complete that next year). His attention to detail is just great, I loved the front deck when I saw it and would highly recommend him to anyone needing work."

"Prompt communication, accurate estimate and schedule, job well done! This was a smooth process with great communication and attention to detail the whole way through. Kevin came out quickly with his drywall pro to give an estimate, provided a detailed estimate, and was able to adjust the schedule to add in some electrical work that we wanted. They started the job on time and completed it in the window we scheduled. There was a very minor detail that needed looking into after the job was complete and they handled it perfectly the next day. The quality of the work was great -- they tore down and replaced a ceiling. We've worked with other contractors and handyman services for small and big jobs and this company is one we'd definitely work with again (which we can't say about others)."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

Porcelain countertops have a fairly long life span, sometimes lasting for decades. Depending on how much wear and tear you put your countertops through, it could last 25 to 50 years. But be warned, porcelain is also prone to cracking, so as long as you take good care of it, you’ll have those countertops looking brand new for years to come.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
