"America's Basement team was great to work with. Chad (the Foreman) on our my basement project was very helpful in going through his plan prior to starting and also gave me updates throughout the day. Chad and his crew was able to complete the project efficiently and was able to complete the job in under a day. They also did a great job with answering any questions I had. Overall I was 100% pleased with the service and now I trust that my basement will no longer leak. I highly recommend America's Basement Contractor for any waterproofing needs."

"We had the Steel City crew install the waterproofing system (French drain and sump pump) and wall strap in our basement. They are very friendly and efficient. They finished the project within one day and cleaned up everything. Then they walked us through and explained to us how to check whether the system is working. They also called us to check whether things are going well several days later. BTW, they have lifetime warranty! Very nice experience working with them and I would recommend to everyone!"

"Real Pros. They arrived a tad early and I asked them to not start pounding out the basement floor until 8 am. At 8:01 they started. French drain Project finished completely at 12:15. I’ve waited until the next big rain which happened on Monday am. Torrents of rain and basement is bone dry. Exactly as promised."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

You should plan on waiting at least a year and ideally two to three years after construction before finishing your basement. This will give the foundation time to settle in response to the weight of your home and the expansion of the surrounding soil. You can then repair your foundation and seal any cracks as needed before finishing it to reduce your risk of future leaks or other issues.

Some basement waterproofing methods can actually cause your water or moisture problems to get worse, which is why it’s so important to call in a professional who knows how to solve your underlying issue and use the appropriate waterproofing methods. An example of this would be applying latex waterproofing paint to the insides of your basement walls without fixing the water issue outside. Doing so can trap moisture in the basement walls, which can promote mold growth, peeling paint, and even damaged concrete. However, when done by a professional, the only downside to basement waterproofing is the up-front cost.

Having a trusted crawl space contractor is the key to great encapsulation. If you're not sure how to hire a crawl space pro, begin by asking your neighbors for referrals. Homes in your neighborhood will often have a similar foundation to your house, and personal recommendations are one of the best ways to find a contractor. Additionally, double-check that the contractor has experience with encapsulation as well as proof of their license and insurance.

One handy thing about whole-house dehumidifiers is, once installed, you don’t have to worry about placement or changing the dehumidifier’s position. But if you are using a portable dehumidifier, we suggest keeping it away from walls, vents, and furniture. It needs a central, unobstructed spot with access to lots of air to do its job.

Yes, you can enclose your crawl space. Enclosing your crawl space can promote energy efficiency and reduce the risks of pests and mold by limiting factors like humidity. It can also reduce heat loss, which is why doing so for the winter can make your home more comfortable.
