"This was one of the best experiences I’ve had with a contractor. We bought a house that needed significant work. I had several contractors in the house at the same time and they all worked well around each other. Redemption flooring owner is an honest and amazing human being. We got to know each other a bit over the course of the time it took to put hardwood floors down and later tile floors. Great personality, and just an all around great human being. Prices were reasonable and the work was emasculate !! Our floors loook fantastic!"

"It went fine, however, I was told the job would take roughly 8 hours for 1 person. It ended up being 15 hours, partly with a second handyman. So it was twice as much as we were expecting, and the price is already pretty high. Also, the second handyman brought an extra piece of siding that was not needed. We had already purchased a piece and had it painted, ready to install. So that was an unnecessary added expense. But I guess it's ok as we'll probably need it at some point in the future. What was really weird is that the same mistake happened when we had a piece of siding replaced a few years ago! Overall, they did a good job though, despite the cold weather."

"Don and his assistant Tony performed a complete remodel of my 1,000 sf basement, converting it to a large family room, workshop, storage closet, full bath and tile work around an electric fireplace. He is a hard and steady worker and highly skilled, actually masterful with wood. I made a few changes to the original plan which he accommodated. My job was finished in 8 weeks and the outcome is beautiful. Since I did the painting, I can't speak to that element, but everything else he did."

Customers say: Quality work

"We recently had Dan at Valor Homes remodel our Kitchen. We didn't have the money to do it all at once, but he worked within our budget in steps over several months to help us get where we wanted it. Our cabinets were refinished and modified versus replacing them which saved LOTS of money. We had him split a cabinet and move it so that the stove working area was more functional also. We started last January and finished in mid June due to our budget needs. Valor homes was very easy to work with and went one step at a time as we could afford to for each step of the process. Dan worked tirelessly with my wife and I to give us recommendations for quality products and what would look best for our style home. We wanted light colored cabinets with dark countertops and dark backsplash. The vendors he put us in contact with to pick our building materials were top notch and I would not hesitate to recommend them to my closest friends. The work completed, including the tile work and perfect grout lines, painting the cabinets, the floor trim, plumbing and floor are perfect. In the end, my wife and I could not have been any happier with the way the kitchen turned out. If I were to do it all over again, Dan is the only guy I would contact again. Outstanding! THANK YOU for making things easy and affordable. You gave us a tremen"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost your home's value, especially if you are replacing old or dated flooring. Adding a new tile floor can deliver a return on investment (ROI) of around 56.4%, with some projects offering up to 100% ROI. Buyers appreciate new tile because it provides a modern look and is known for being durable, water-resistant, low-maintenance, and easy to clean. For the best results and highest return, consider hiring a professional, as tiling mistakes can be very noticeable and detract from the value.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

Natural stone tiles are durable, heat-resistant, and add timeless elegance to floors, walls, and countertops.
