"Fast Estimate , had many estimates from other companies and Waterproofing One was the best price for Us , Joe was very confident and knowledgeable and gave Us good suggestions for our leaking basement, the crew that installed the French drain inside were great, install looks very professional. I figured we’d have a mess to clean up after the install understandably. But wow they did an incredible job cleaning up afterwards. Not a speck, they even spent time cleaning off the driveway and front lawn. We have been through one major rain storm since the install and not a drip of water. So far so good , we are getting an expected 3” in the next 24 hours and it’s a relief to know I don’t have to stress about rain storms anymore!"

"First attempt at remediation was disappointing, but subsequently a more aggressive effort was made. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service and concern. In a time when warranties and customer satisfaction are just lip service, it is a refreshing experience to deal with a company that values its customerâ s concerns. I would recommend you consider Once And Done for your basement waterproofing needs.."

"This team was great. Tim did the initial site visit and explained everything in detail while drawing a diagram of the work to be completed. Crew was on time, friendly, professional and started work right away. Only about one third of basement needed waterproofing. If future conditions require additional areas to be waterproofed, I will definitely call Highlander."

It filters mold spores, dust mite droppings, dust and other particles, and it keeps hu

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

In Reading, if you notice persistent basement moisture after storms, white chalky residue (efflorescence), peeling paint, rust on metal fixtures, or mold growth, these are warning signs. Cracks wider than 1/8 inch, bowing walls, or step cracks in block foundations also indicate trouble. These issues, common due to Reading’s clay soils and frequent basement flooding, suggest your previous waterproofing is failing and needs attention.

Helpful?

In Reading, combining basement waterproofing with foundation repairs, insulation upgrades, or sump pump installation can help prevent future basement flooding and moisture issues. Scheduling these projects together often streamlines the process and minimizes disruption. It’s best to complete waterproofing before finishing any basement renovations to protect new materials and ensure long-lasting results for your home.

Helpful?

In Reading, success depends on using waterproofing materials that withstand freeze-thaw cycles and are suitable for clay soils. Proper drainage design, thorough sealing, and correct installation techniques are crucial. Regular maintenance—like sump pump checks and gutter cleaning—extends the life of your waterproofing. Hiring professionals familiar with Reading’s unique soil and foundation types helps ensure your basement stays dry for years to come.

Helpful?

For Reading’s humid conditions and risk of basement flooding, keep a dehumidifier (at least 50-pint), a reliable sump pump, wet/dry vacuum, and a moisture meter. Stock hydraulic cement, waterproof sealants, vapor barrier plastic, and gutter sealant. Gutter cleaning tools, downspout extensions, and ice melt are also helpful for managing foundation moisture and preventing water intrusion during seasonal weather changes.

Helpful?

Homes in Reading near the Schuylkill River, with clay-rich soils, or built before 1960 are especially vulnerable to basement moisture and flooding. If you notice high humidity, musty odors, water stains, or rust on stored items, your home likely needs waterproofing. Frequent local flooding or the absence of a sump pump are additional signs that investing in waterproofing will help protect your basement.
