The day he said he was going to start his own business, she, (politely as an italian-broken-english-speaking grandmother could,) kicked out the two tenants immediately and gave him his work shop. In 1963 Jack Lees first opened Kitchen Fair in a small showroom in the Pines Plaza Shopping Center in Pittsburgh's North Hills. It wasn’t long before he moved to a larger (and the most recent) location at Elfinwild Road & Route 8. In 1964 his son Jim joined him and worked his way through all aspects of the business and eventually into sales. In 1979 Jack retired & sold Kitchen Fair to Jim who, to this day, owns the business.
