small business with 2 employees. General home renovations and construction. Billing is 1/2 due upon contract signing, balance due upon completion of project.
"All work was done as expected. $100 for installing a small bracket on a railing was excessive and leads to a suspicion that, while the roof replacement was reasonable, other items may not be."

General contractor specializing in Kitchen, Bath-room remodeling, and deck construction.
"FABULOUS. We don't think there are words that can adequately express the outstanding workmanship. Greg came to our home to correct a completely botched wall refinishing project left behind by another contractor. He took time to listen to our vision and executed a flawless finish. Greg is professional, reliable, and an overall genuinely nice guy. He settles for nothing but perfection, and was truly our port in the storm. You need to look no further than McIntyre's Renovations!!!!"

Since 1976, Erie Construction has provided homeowners all over the country with custom solutions to their home improvement needs. With a vast range of products and services, we strive to improve each customer’s home with solutions that are maintenance free, value adding, and energy efficient. And, unlike many companies, we handle every aspect of the home improvement process, including manufacturing, selling, installation, financing, and servicing.
"This was the worst experience I've had with a company and a contractor. They tout their unique materials, training, and warranty. However, they neglect to tell you they sell the contract to the lowest bidder, which means you may get a good crew, or you may get a terrible one. They use whatever material anyone else can get. We got a terrible one, and many have. Dig deep into the reviews. They try to bury them. There are some horror stories. Our crew was very rough on our house, cuts in the deck, smashing and dropping things from 30 feet, felt like there were going to bust through the roof sometimes, and our house is almost hundred years old. The salesman lied about how much of the original roof would come off, and they did not fix or replace any soft spots in our roof, which we were assured they would. They mostly did as little work as they could to get the job done. There were some good crew members, but they did little to remedy issues and told you to contact the main local office. The office is disorganized and frustrating to work with. We got some money back, but honestly, our brand new roof, which we were told would look better as it settled, has dipped in soft spots and does not look like a well-laid roof. Does it work? Yes. But its poor craftsmanship and I've had other roofers say as much. Don't use this company. The warranty is nice, but it also prevents you from getting anything else fixed associated with the roof unless it's them. No one can touch or be on "their" roof, so if you need to fix gutters, or do chimney work, it better be through them or else say goodbye to your warranty. Don't use this company. They are terrible."

Since knowing how to install countertops correctly requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of the topic, we recommend hiring a professional countertops installer near you to work on this project. Kitchen countertops are a high-visibility investment, meaning mistakes made during DIY installation will be easy to spot, may cause damage, and potentially require re-purchasing materials. Professional countertop installers have the skills, tools, and experience to place your new kitchen feature safely and correctly.
There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.
Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.
Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.
Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.
Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.
Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.
Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.
Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.
Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.
The cost to install countertops is $3,105 on average. This project cost can range from $400 to $8,500, depending on the material, edging, and countertop size.
Laminate countertops are generally the most cost-efficient, ranging from $8 to $27 per square foot. On the other hand, slate countertops are considered more luxurious and range from $30 to $90 per square foot. There are also countertop materials priced between those two, including stainless steel, granite, Corian, and wood.
The best way to save money on countertop installation is to choose an affordable material. For example, if you have a busy kitchen and need durability, choose a more affordable but lasting material like granite countertops. Likewise, if you don't use your countertops often, you can use a softer material that costs less than more sturdy ones.
Another way to cut costs is to remove and dispose of the existing countertops yourself, if possible. That way, countertop installers can get straight to placing the new feature, reducing labor costs.
It typically takes one to three days to install kitchen countertops. A few factors like size and material impact the time it takes to install a countertop. For example, if you have two slabs of countertop material, it won’t take as long to install as placing several custom pieces of countertop.
This timelines allows for removing existing countertops and any plumbing disconnect and reconnect that needs to happen. Plan on the higher end of the time frame if you've chosen custom countertops versus large slabs.
