We are licensed home improvement contractors for remodeling and/or construction needs. We have extensive experience with remodeling; framing, drywall, plaster, decks, tile and wood flooring. We specialize in exterior applications of stucco and synthetic stucco (EIFS - Exterior Insulation Finishing Systems) as well as all the construction basics like painting, carpentry, etc. Many of our clients are repeat customers because they like having one person to oversee all aspects of a remodel. Interior, exterior, residential or commercial construction. Product warranties available.
"We were very impressed by the work done by Vance Construction. Extremely friendly and efficient! We had a hard time finding someone to do our plaster work at a fair price and they were able to give us a great price and complete amazing work. We will definitely use them in the future!"

I carry $2,000,000 liability insurance. (that i have never used). I have never been sued or brought to court. I have alot of repeat customers which speaks for itself. I think of myself as a honest man who just wants to provide a good quality service to people who need someone they can trust with their biggest investment. Their home! I have lived in ireland england and the u.s.a. And have worked in the construction indusrty in all three countries. I have a degree in drafting helpful in instalations and design changes. I belive that the customer is always right!!! I do all and any work that comes my way. Not too proud to do small jobs. You never know where it will leadto. I fixed a leaking skylight for $150.00 and the next spring built the same customer huge wrap around deck for $20,000.00. Call 412-414-5870.
"My wife and I wanted to remove a load bearing wall in our house, and hired Bob and his crew for the job. They were absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Bob did brilliant work moving ducts and with his finishing work to make the house look as though the wall had never been there. I not only would, but I would ONLY hire Bob and his guys for any contracting work we need done in the future. I can not express how highly I recommend them."

Pittsburgh Remodeling Company is built on the principles of customer service and craftsmanship. Through partnership with homeowners, the team at PRC can help achieve any vision for your home remodeling project. While every home and every project is different, when Pittsburgh Remodeling Company is involved there are certain constants: The work looks amazing and the customers are satisfied. So if you’re looking for more than a contractor, for a company that will care about your project and final product as much as you do, let’s start a conversation .
"I wasn't planning on writing a review about our experience with PRC, but after finding more examples of poor workmanship on a project that was supposed be completed 10 months ago, I've changed my mind. This post is not motivated by malice, but we are very disappointed. PRC came highly recommend, and we knew we'd be paying a premium for a good company. We expected a lot more on a job that nearly totaled 40K. Our entire project was not terrible, and there were areas where PRC excelled. First the Good: PRC was organized and prompt every day that they came to work. They respected our home, and did their best to make sure the rest of the house remained clean. They stuck to the contract. They were always patient with us and answered our questions. Their design assistance was great, and we love the aesthetics that were chosen for hour kitchen project. They definitely listened and tried to address our concerns (but they fell short). The Bad: This is just my theory, but I feel as though our project was considered insignificant compared to more complicated work that I know PRC does. We are going to have to replace the new floor in our kitchen/dining room that is not 12 months old because PRC failed to install it properly. We will now be forced to spend another 3-4 K on the replacement. To be fair, PRC returned most of our money we paid them for the floor. I appreciate this greatly, but it is going to cost us money we didn't plan on spending on getting it right. The floor co. we are using now took one look at the floor and explained all the areas that were done incorrectly. They are going to use our floor as an example of poor installation to future clients. They will also photograph the new floor to present a before and after example. The plumbing under our sink came undone after maybe 2 months. This was repaired promptly, but I worry about its longevity. Switch plates and the new heat register were installed crooked. Again, this was fixed, but why not install it right the first time? The issue that is forcing me to write this review, the paint. I believe this was a 1200 item on our work order. They came multiple times in order to get it right. It still isn't. There are areas that are not covered, blotchy, and simply not painted at all. As I was cleaning a portion of the wall yesterday, I noticed that there are entire sections of wall that are not painted. It is just bare wall compound. We did not receive a refund for the paint, but I did not ask for one. My mistake. It should not take multiple visits to paint one room properly. However, this is another example of how I will be spending more time and money for something that I already paid for. There are more issues, but these are the most significant. Again, we are so disappointed. We wanted to work with PRC on future projects, but that is impossible now. We actually don't even want to get involved in any more home projects after this experience. I think PRC has the ability to deliver quality work, but for some reason they fell quite short with our home. We have currently tried to contact PRC about the additional problems we have found, and have been ignored. Proceed with caution!"

Custom closet installations
"We worked with designer Jane. She was so nice and patient. We met several times while finalizing the design and she revised the design many times to meet our satisfaction. She also came on site multiple times in hot weather to measure the space. The space looked great after the installation work. We liked how we made the best use of the space. The only complaint is that when we got closer to the installation day, there was no communication of what time the workers might show up. We called and left a voice mail the day before, but didn't hear back. On the day of installation, we got a text message around 6am saying the workers would arrive around 7am. We of course missed the text message and were still asleep when the workers showed up. I am sharing this because they did a great job otherwise and hope they can work on this small detail to improve customer experience. Overall, I highly recommend them to my friends and will choose to work with them again."

Looking for a top-notch handyman in Pittsburgh? Look no further than Chris Jackson's Contracting. As an owner-operated business, we take pride in delivering exceptional results. Our award-winning team is ready to tackle any job, and we offer flexible scheduling options. Contact us today for all your handyman needs!
"The deck, chandelier, handrail, and UV projects were done in October. The windows required a special order and were installed on two consecutive days in December. Mr. Jackson and his employees did an excellent job. They are efficient and courteous, and left the work areas very clean. Chris is knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. It is difficult to make a definitive price comparison, as we did not get estimates from other contractors, but we trust Chris—I had hired him for work on a previous house—and feel that his prices were very fair and reasonable. Casement windows are expensive and we expected that; the new ones are excellent. While here to do the windows the guys also moved a heavy chest from the garage up to our second floor, a task we could not have done ourselves. We can highly recommend Chris Jackson’s Contracting. This review should have been posted long ago, but better late than never."

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.
The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.
You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.
Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:
A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.
A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.
A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
