They were able to work around my strange work schedule, which made things go very smoothly. Andy was prompt, professional and helpful. Explained to me everything he was doing, and what else needed to be done. I will definitely call them again when I am ready to start my next project.

Andy is a truly professional electrician. He left our home giving us a sense of ease that the work he did corrected the problems. Our 30-year-old home will probably need for electrical work done, and Andy will certainly be the one we'll call.

Went very well.  Prompt and did a good job.  I am waiting to hear from the owner as to the price of what was done and a bid on future work recommended to fix the leakage problem.

Original quote was higher than competitors, but we were on a tight time schedule and Milberg was available to start the soonest, so we went with them.  When scope of the project changed somewhat (Adding lights to closets, moving receptacles) final billing was exorbitant.  Also, mid-project we asked for quotes on painting and installing a radiator -the cost provided by Milberg was easily twice that I got from other contractors.   I felt that Joel was taking the opportunity to price gouge me since he was already in my house doing work.
With regard to the low punctuality and responsiveness scores, contact with the office of Milberg is less than stellar.  When I called asking about timing of certain projects, they said they would get back to me and then never call back, forcing me to call again and again in increments of several days.  The radiator mentioned above was eventually cancelled after waiting 5 weeks for any information on the timing of installation and getting none.  Eventually I cancelled the radiator order and magically it was available in the next few days.  At this point it was too late for our project, but Joel was insistent I pay for the radiator.  I refused and he refused to accept an Angie's List coupon in retaliation.
Overall the quality of the work seems fine, but dealing with the office is not worth hiring them.  And the price is not competitive for anything that we had quoted or performed.  Would not recommend.
Response from Milberg & Associates LLC
"[member name removed], I understand your frustration. Some things did not go so perfectly but please do not exaggerate where unnecessary. You started by changing the position of the closet doors which changed the height of the doors which we ordered. Therefore, we had to stop that order and re-order taller doors. Other changes that incurred extra costs included more than just adding light to closets and moving receptacles. It included additional wiring, retro-fitting fan box, re-insulation in attic, cutting and installing new drywall on barn wall of 3rd floor, etc. These changes also caused the time of completion of the contract to be extended. The problem with the radiator, as we explained to you, was that the first one arrived damaged and we had to wait for another to be shipped. This was out of our control. If you truly received bids for half the cost of ours, why didn't you accept their bids? You had agreed on the installation of this special order radiator, than once we received it, you backed out. Leaving us with the cost of this order. As for the office not being worth working with, we always got back to you as soon as we had information for you. We feel bad that you were not satisfied, but we tried to work with you as best we were able."

It took year for them to finish. First of all, we love our house, we love what we have. We think that they cut a few corners. It took us a long time to work with them to come up with a design but they charge you by the hour for the design work and that ended up costing quite a bit, going back and forth with changes and things like that. So that probably easily cost us $10000 or $15000, just for the drawing. For me, the design turned out good but my partner really has a great look for designs and he helped a lot with making it functional as well. To be truthful, I don’t think that he really has a design, one thing he gave us for free that my partner jumped on was this sliding door and I hate sliding doors. That free thing was $350 out of a $127000; I really wish that their assistant had said let’s do something there. The biggest complaint is the cost. Even though they had just framed out a half wall and I suddenly realized that the half wall came out about fourteen inches further than I thought it needed to, that we could redesign and it would open up to a walking space. I asked him if they could shorten that and he said no problem and he told us too it took him longer to remove the brick than they expected it because it was a triple layer brick rather a double layered brick. There was another thing they said, “Oh yeah, that’s easy”, well easy turned out to be something like $1300 here $1100 there and suddenly it was just blowing up. We actually had to call a meeting with him and his administrative persona and his partner who does the electrical stuff and my partner and me and have a room to facilitate everything on the board of all the work that I hadn’t paid yet, all the changes, additional cost and decide what we were going to do with them. Some of the solutions were for us to do the painting here, we ordered some of the equipment ourselves and they were going to install it because the truth of it was that the products that they were going to get us, they packed them essentially, they just put a certain percentage of profit on absolutely everything. Whenever they get us good products as we could with certain features, we went online and found this company that we wanted to buy a gas stove with an electric oven and get our own dishwasher so all the appliances, we got ourselves because they were planning on putting the cheap ones in. That is what they supposedly put in as the allowance. We ended up buying the hardware ourselves, we even bought the glass cabinets but when they arrived, they didn’t have glass. They look awesome but what is weird is that price that we paid did not include glass in it. They didn’t even think to do that and of course they expected us to pay for us. They expected us to pay for every single thing that I believe he forgot. So from the cost perspective, it turned out to be a nightmare. From the timing perspective, it was supposed to take four to five months, it took twelve months. That was also a nightmare. They did a decent job of having the ability to have a sink, a stove and a refrigerator working in this kitchen. It just took way too long, we have heard stories about people washing their dishes in the basement or in the bathtub, and we at least did have a sink. Their time reliability was bad. They had new work coming in where they were still writing checks and we had written all our checks. We agreed no more changes, at one point I had said to them, do not accept any changes if it is more than hundred dollars to do but we still did a few at the end, I just really put my foot down. They were going to weed me at least a stoop because we didn’t have the deck built as we were finishing up the outside and he said, we could put together a temporary stoop. We made sure, he gave us an estimate before he did it and the estimate was something like $2100. We went to Home depot, we got the materials and we built ourselves a really nice big stop for $650. We had to do some of our own work just to survive because it was just costing so much. The original estimate I think it was over $100000, we easily added 20 percent to the cost from all those so called changes. We were at a house where they had used them before. We had them come in at a prior house and work together to put together designs. We spent $5000 there to add an additional floor but we moved to the house we are in now. So we were familiar with them but one of the members, the partners were left and he was really the project manager, he knew how to keep things going, he knew how to communicate and work well with a customer. The guy that was left was like the technical guy in the partnership, he knew construction, he knew the physics and the other person was the guy that worked with the customers. So they lost that part.

This was a complete kitchen and pantry remodel, including removal of old floors, cabinets, and shelving, reframing wall and ceiling in kitchen, plastering, cabinets in kitchen and pantry, rewiring, new lighting, new fridge ,dishwasher, and sink, plumbing adapted, windows fixed, new semi-custom cabinets, pot rack, pendant light over sink, recessed ceiling and under-cabinet lighting, granite and butcher block countertops, subway tile back splashes, checkerboard vinyl floor and painting.
Joel and Andy, the partners, were very knowledgeable and helpful with decision making. I had been thinking about this project for a long time, and had pretty definite ideas about what  I wanted. They were both very good about helping me decide what would work and what wouldn't, enabling me to arrive at the results I hoped for. I am sure that they would also be good at helping someone less certain to arrive at a result they would like, too- but they are especially good at enabling their customers to get their own ideas realized. I think this is a very important quality, as I have, in the past been unhappy when dealing with bossy contractors who were big on telling me what I should want!
This project did take considerably longer than the estimated time (2 1/2 months vs. 4-5 weeks), and was certainly not cheap, but it was very well worth it. All of the workmen were pleasant, punctual, co-operative individuals who did quality, careful work, and were polite and friendly. The office personnel were responsive and pleasant, too. Since I live in a co-op apartment, I was especially relieved that the workers were also considerate of my neighbors .
I love my new kitchen, and feel that the time and money were well spent.

The job was completed satisfactorily.  Water lines were fed from the basement, through the wall of a first-floor powder room and up to the second floor closet.  A drain pipe and vent also were installed.  There were a couple hiccups along the way, but these were addressed to my satisfaction.  One such hiccup was that the drain pipe did not fit fully inside the wall, so they constructed a small bump-out in the new laundry room to house the pipe.  While this was done without consulting me, they made it visually less accidental by installing trim on the edge of the bump-out.

It was also noted during the course of the job that a sewage pipe would need to be replaced for additional cost.  The cost was reasonable, and, since the head contractor is a master plumber, this replacement was added to the job easily.

The administrative staff were excellent.  Yvonne was a great help in getting questions answered before the job began and in pointing me in the right direction to get issues resolved during the job.  Everyone showed up on time or early, completed the work in the prescribed time and were very responsive to concerns.  If I left a message, calls were returned promptly.  That kind of response should be standard, but seems to be the exception these days.  I put high value on that level of service.

The cost was comparable to, although slightly more expensive than, other firms, but the service was worth the small price difference.  I would gladly use Milberg again.

Milberg and Assoc. did a fantastic job on our almost 100-year-old house. We wouldn't hesitate to hire this company again.
----- We received a very professional written estimate / contract in a timely manner. Contract outlined approximate start and finish dates, exact costs, processes for change orders (if necessary), and process for disputes (if necessary).
----- Workers arrived on time, as stated in the contract and completed work as estimated in the contract.
----- All work was done with care, professionalism and attention to detail.
We couldn't be happier with the job!

would benefit from a more experienced staffer checking up on their work at the end of the day or the next day. This did not cause huge problems for us, but we did notice a difference in some of the quality of the work done by the junior staffers.
MIlberg is not cheap, but after being a homeowner for awhile and using contractors up and down the price scale, we've found that the cliche is true - you get what you pay for. We prefer to pay more to get the experience and skill that, in Milberg's case, money can buy. (If you don't do that you will end up paying for it to be redone anyway.) Also, we found that Joel would offer suggestions for less expensive ways to approach certain things so that we could make financial choices. He was also able to find deals on materials for us in some cases.
When project costs extended beyond the costs estimated, this was due either to change-orders we made as the projects progressed, or to issues that arose that could not be anticipated, which is, unfortunately, part of renovating a nearly century-old home that has not been well-cared-for in the past and has hidden quirks.
I wish I could use MIlberg again. Unfortunately, we have moved out of the area and now have to find someone else that can live up to the expectations Milberg has established. We had some work done on our new home that made us miss Milberg terribly!!! Please open a branch in Eastern PA!!!

They started work two weeks later and quickly found more damage than either of us anticipated. This is always a little awkward but Joel handled it professionally with detailed verbal and written descriptions of the extent of the repairs and an explanation of why they were necessary. He also came up with some clever, cost saving solutions to some pretty complex problems with the roof.
Their work was the highest quality and each day they left the site clean and in a condition that we could make partial use of it. The guys doing the work were polite well organized and productive. They also pay a lot of attention to detail.
Here?s the best part, they showed up on the day that we agreed to and showed up every day after that until the work was finished. I find that a rare quality in small contractors. They also return e-mails and phone calls promptly.

It was great. Because we used them for the remodel and because we used them to find out floors, which turned out beautifully, that horrible winter we had some ice built up in our gutters and they helped us; water started to leak through our windows. They called someone who was out to our house within a half hour. They got up on the ladder and broke the ice; there was no damage to the house because they came so fast. We see them as our contractors from now on.
