"Franky is incredible. Thinks design through, complete in all aspects. Neat high quality work and fairly priced. I would highly recommend Franky. He built out my unfinished basement, installed a bath, finished my garage and did my kitchen backsplash"

Customers say: Quick response

"We had contracted Anthony and team to update our foyer and living space in our recently purchased home. This included creating an opening and adding support in a load bearing wall, demolishing an existing closet, creating a new partition walls and bulkhead, installing new hardwood flooring and baseboards in three rooms. Communication with Anthony throughout the project was a breeze; he is extremely responsive. Once the project started, they were able to complete the work in the time that they promised. They took the necessary precautions to protect the floors and the walls during demolition and left the space neat once the work was done. There was a slight miscommunication regarding the specification of the bulkhead. But Anthony was nice enough to rectify the problem and did not charge me extra for it! I have other work planned in the future and will definitely reach out to A&J Contracting!"

"It was great! We needed two different houses cleaned at specific times and they were able to accommodate us. Easy to work with, respected our mask wearing wishes, and did a great job cleaning. Reasonably priced and cleaned each house in about three hours."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

Tiny house living requires creative solutions to the one biggest issue: space. Many people in tiny houses find life most manageable if they practice minimalism. Eliminating excess items and clutter makes the living space feel bigger, which can be a significant mood booster. It can also be challenging to get utilities arranged for a tiny house, and building and zoning codes can and often do present unique challenges to overcome.

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.
