"We had storm damage and they promptly came out, explained process, product and service. We scheduled and had gutter replaced on back of house within a week. Very pleased. asked with team. Price and guarantees were best we received. (We haven’t had a good hard rain yet so I’m unable to comment on how effective the gutter is in preventing drips/ leaks between the gutter and facia. The last gutters from a different vendor were not properly installed. If this is good, we’ll probably have the front done too!)"

"McAndrew did a great job on the gutters. The project was completed within a week of signing the contract AND done well. My husband and I really appreciated the knowledge McAndrew had with our community, the quality of product and the professionalism of the men who installed the gutters. Thank you!"

"The bathroom ceiling fan in one bathroom was providing inadequate ventilation.  We replaced a 70cfm ceiling fan / 4 inch ducting with a 300cfm ceiling fan / 6 inch ducting.  In the two remaining bathrooms we had 70cfm ceiling fans replaced with 150cfm models while keeping the existing ductwork.  In the first bathroom Rob had to replaced an approx 8ft piece of ductwork and external vent cap.
He initially needed to change the day he would be able to perform the job and we were notified well in advance.  The estimate for both parts and labor was accurate.  He showed up on time on each occasion.  The floor along with the bathroom fixtures were covered.  Rob cleaned up all resulting debris both inside and outside of our house. The job was completed exactly as we had wanted with no complaints whatsoever. He is prompt, easy to work with, and his workmanship is excellent.  We would have absolutely no hesitation in hiring him again."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

You may have a clogged gutter. Downspouts can also clog if your gutter collects too much debris. Hire a professional gutter cleaner, and if you still have problems, install a gutter guard (which prevents debris from entering your gutter system) and a downspout extension (which helps drain water further away from your foundation, so it doesn't pool near your house). Follow these tips to keep your gutter downspouts clean.

It’s technically possible to remove some soffit material without removing your gutters, but it’s usually a good idea to remove gutters, fascia, and soffit and then reinstall them in the opposite order. Replacing soffits without removing gutters is likely to leave you with a less professional and clean appearance, and you’re more likely to do damage to your gutters and fascia boards in the process.

Leaks, corrosion, sagging sections, and loose fasteners are common problems that need fixing.

The best way to seal gutters is with a combination of waterproof roofing cement and silicone gutter sealant. This powerful duo works to prevent water from escaping through holes and cracks while allowing for breathability. While you can use polyurethane sealants, silicone sealants tend to be more flexible when it comes to climate. Silicone is UV-resistant and bonds well to many surfaces. However, polyurethane sealant bonds better with wood.
