"We had storm damage and they promptly came out, explained process, product and service. We scheduled and had gutter replaced on back of house within a week. Very pleased. asked with team. Price and guarantees were best we received. (We haven’t had a good hard rain yet so I’m unable to comment on how effective the gutter is in preventing drips/ leaks between the gutter and facia. The last gutters from a different vendor were not properly installed. If this is good, we’ll probably have the front done too!)"

"I have experienced leaf clogging in the past which damaged my roof and interior walls. The roofer who fixed the roof said that my front gutter was misaligned and, without asking, relocated a drain pipe to the middle of the front house, which was not only ugly but still didn’t drain all that well. The roofer did not address a gutter guard system, even though most roofers also do gutter guards. In fairness, however, the roof repair has not leaked. However, as that roofer is now banned on Angie’s List, for what reason not known to me, I decided to look elsewhere for a leaf guard system. I was still going up on the roof twice a year to clean my gutters, which is dangerous enough for professionals, let alone someone not really trained or geared to such type work like me. I had a maternal uncle who died in a roof fall at the age of 93 and a paternal great aunt who was killed crossing the road to work on her garden at the age of 108. I’m over 65, and, as you can see, I have good genes on both sides of the family for hoping to spend a lot more time on this earth if I can avoid accidents. Getting the gutter issue addressed was a high priority of mine. I was at a dental appointment the day the work was done, and the technician, with my okay, started before I got back. I did not learn his name, as he was on the ladder working when I came home, and I did not wish to disturb him. He had called me and begun around 8 am and finished around 4 pm. He worked steadily throughout the day, and when I went outside on household errands, I observed him to be working diligently. Even though it was a fixed price job he did not appear to be rushed or to be inattentive to detail. Since the work's being completed we have had a serious rain and the system seemed to work well. I inspected the work and it seems to be strong and well attached to the house. I am not able to see if the gutters were cleaned out but, based on the technician’s seeming to be attentive and conscientious about his work, and also on the water flow during the rain, I have no reason to think he didn’t. The company’s guarantee is simple enough, no clogs-ever, and the guarantee is transferrable. The primary virtue of this system is, aside from completely blocking any point at which leaves or debris could enter, is that it is installed completely independently of the roof. I will need my roof replaced in a few years and I don’t want any trouble with a new roof warranty being disturbed by my gutter guards nor do I want the roof install interfering with the already installed gutter guards. Neither will be a problem with this system. Regarding pricing, Rob, the salesperson, said the retail price was $6,000 and change, but based on discounts for veterans, a coupon I had, and some other factors, he was able to reduce it to $4,114. The price seems fair enough to me considering the quality of materials and labor that went into it. In addition, quantity is a factor, as, due to my hip roof system as well as having an addition, my house has a lot more gutters than a typical house of the size of mine. I usually don’t concern myself with price as long as the price is intuitively reasonable. Poor products or workmanship can be expensive indeed and I am quite satisfied with the quality of both the product and installation, and certainly the guarantee. The only drawback is that I can’t hire this company again as they do only gutters and all mine are done for life."

"We set up appointment to meet to discuss the project. Mr. McAndrew was great with explaining everything and had video to demonstrate how this new (new to me) gutter works. They are better than standard gutters and this type prevents ice build up which is a great help given the Pocono weather. Pricey yes but well worth it."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

There are gutter repair experts who specialize in gutter maintenance. These professionals can help with clogging, leaks, sagging, or other issues. An experienced pro should also be able to tell you when a repair won’t be enough and a full replacement will be necessary. Keeping your gutters in great shape is how you prevent bigger problems from forming.

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

Zinc gutters can truly last a lifetime. As one of the strongest materials used for roofing and gutter systems, zinc can last up to 90 years. Even copper gutters don't last as long as zinc gutters. Zinc gutters are a long-lasting investment in both the value and appearance of your home.

Yes, and repairing such damage is another repair that’s done often. Sagging gutters are usually the result of one of two things: damage or overload. For example, ice buildup over the winter due to clogged gutters can cause expansion, stretching the gutters. A falling tree limb or even a rogue baseball can cause gutters to sag. Sagging gutters can be repaired, but they are often replaced because it can take less time.

When it comes to which gutter material is better, the choice really boils down to what you're looking for in a gutter system. If saving money is the most important factor, then your best option is to go for aluminum gutters. If longevity and durability are more important to you, then copper gutters could be the best fit. If you want to customize the color of your gutters, aluminum takes the cake, but if you're looking for a more natural appearance, copper might be a better choice.
