"We have used Joe many times over the course of many years. He has replaced water heaters, fixed leaking sinks, replaced garbage disposals, fixed broken toilets, done work on the propane lines in our house - you name it, he’s done it. When my daughter slammed our glass shower door into the showerhead and broke the showerhead pipe BEHIND THE WALL, he somehow managed to fix that pipe without having to cut open the drywall-I still have no idea how he did that. He is very responsive, very professional, meets his commitments every time, and his work has been fantastic. Joe has been our go-to plumber for many years, I would highly recommend him!"

"The Delaware Plumbing Professionals (DPP) that installed my products were Ryan and Anthony. I was very happy with the products and services provided to me. Here are things I want to express in no particular order. 1. Ryan/Anthony were on time. 2. They answered all of my questions. 3. I feel good knowing that my water hardness has decreased and the amount of chlorine in my water is less. (Artesian adds a lot of chlorine.) 4. I now get suds when I shampoo my hair. 5. My water tastes better. 6. I don't get orange rings in my toilet. 7. Ryan/Anthony are nice guys and a pleasure to talk to. 8. I was not pressured into buying anything. 9. I am definitely going to call DPP the next time I have a plumbing issue/need. 10. I will recommend DPP to my friends and family. Thank you, Alfred (Chad) Alspach"

"I would highly recommend Benjamin Franklin plumbing. Jon P and his assistant were fantastic. They showed up on time and immediately asked me questions so that they could understand my issue. I showed them the work and Jon performed an inspection to make sure that was truly the issue and to see if anything else might be causing my leak. He confirmed that he thought the issue was the same and promptly provided me with a quote for various resolutions to my problem. I ended up having Jon and his assistant pull the toilet off and to replace the seal and re-seat the toilet. They finished quickly and ensured me the leak was fixed. Jon also indicated the warranty on the work was good for 1-year and to call if I ran into any issues with their fix. They did a fantastic job and I could not believe how quickly the problem was resolved."

"UPDATE: After speaking with the owner of the company he was able to take care of all the issues I had. I am now completely satisfied. ORIGINAL COMMENT: I had a leaky seal on a toilet and a bad water shutoff valve. The plumber replaced the leaky valve with no problem. But they tried to upsell. I a new toilet ($1,000.00) When all I needed was the replacement of a six-dollar seal. Then to force the issue after replacing the water valve they failed to replace the waterline on the existing toilet to entice me to spend $1000 that was unnecessary. They were going to leave my home with the waterline uninstalled and me without a working toilet. After pointing this out as they were ready to leave the plumber went and got a waterline cut the water valve back on and my toilet worked perfectly this was a blatant attempt to upsell me a toilet a $1000 toilet I did not need. I will not be using this plumber company again I cannot trust them."

"My husband and I tried to replace our powder room vanity and toilet ourselves, but ran into a few issues that told us- maybe we should hire a professional. Jim is friendly and knowledgeable. He explained, in depth, everything they would do, the parts they would need, and even asked about our preferences. Jim and his team were quick to provide an affordable estimate and schedule our job! They were able to swap out our vanity and toilet in half a day! Final product turned out great!"

"David is a great find, He's friendly and likeable. His rates are extremely favorable. He was on time and did neat and clean work.He even went out of his way to repair work done on our toilet by an earlier plumber. I'd rate him a "10" and will recommend him to anyone needing plumbing work."

"Problem: had a whole house filter that just would not budge. Had not been able to change the filter for almost 2 yrs. Felt water pressure in the house was now affected. Also had a bathroom faucet upstairs that had visibly reduced water pressure on the hot side. Have a toilet bidet that uses the sink hot water through a T which was installed by different licensed plumbers. I explained to Ryan what the issues were. In my wildest dreams I did not expect this job to cost more than $450 tops. ended up paying $897 to replace a faucet that was not old by any means with a Moen Chateau faucet that does not retail for more than $140 tops and a filter cartridge replacement. I did not change the filter to anything new, nor was I given a new filter ( filter I had) or housing. He just opened it as it was so hard to open and perhaps cleaned and lubed the stuck filter housing and put in the new filter. That is all that was done. I feel while their service call fee of $65 may be reasonable their end prices were not. I never in a million years thought pay so much to replace a basic faucet ( which I am now skeptical as to whether it needed replacing or not- perhaps it could have gotten flushed out as he alleged a piece of plastic from the bidet tubing seal got in there) After I reiterated prior to the work being done that I simply cannot have this work affect my bidet , this almost happened if it were not for some improvising on my part. I will say that he was receptive and helpful, aiding in making sure that the fix worked so I had a working bidet. I will say Ryan was courteous, and professional the whole duration. He cleaned up very well. I have no qualms with their professionalism, and the quality of the work so far. But I take issue with their exorbitant fees. Unfortunately I would not use them again. The fees did not align with the work. This was an amount that reflected the waiving of the service call and a discount by the manager. $897 ? I am still in sticker shock!"

"Very professional and personable technician. He wore shoe covers to minimize dirt being tracked into the house. His work was as follows:  Replaced a broken 15+ year old shut-off valve for the bathroom toilet, chased down the valve for an outdoor faucet, and provided tips on how to make a tub faucet and valve look like new instead of replacing since they worked fine already. All work done in less than 2 hours.

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Even if you’re not very handy, DIY toilet repair is something many people can handle. However, that doesn’t mean that every repair project is something to try to take on yourself.

On paper, replacing a toilet flange is rather straightforward. However, it requires heavy lifting and critical thinking, especially if things don’t go according to plan.

Replacing a toilet costs between $275 and $480 in most cases, and the average cost sits around $375. This includes removing the old toilet and installing the new toilet. Your price could be significantly higher if you invest in a high-quality brand, need the replacement done on an emergency basis, or replace your toilet as a part of a larger bathroom remodel that demands additional work.

The cost of making a bathroom accessible can be $3,000 to $25,000, but you could spend as much as $50,000 building a brand-new ADA-compliant bathroom. Some bathroom accessibility upgrades to consider include:

  • Installing grab bars: $100–$500

  • Lowering cabinets and vanities: $1,200–$2,500

  • Installing modified doors: $700–$1,500

  • Installing a modified toilet: $400–$1,000

  • Installing an accessible sink and faucet: $100–$1,000

  • Adding a walk-in tub: $1,100–$17,000

  • Converting a bathtub into a walk-in tub: $350–$1,000

  • Installing a wheelchair-accessible shower: $2,000–$7,500

  • Installing a shower ramp: $16–$300

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.

Yes, a bathroom remodel is a worthwhile home improvement project that typically adds value to your home, offering a return on investment (ROI) between 60% and 70%. Potential buyers look closely at bathrooms and kitchens, as these are often the most expensive rooms to renovate. A modern, updated bathroom is more appealing and assures buyers that the plumbing, fixtures, and flooring have a long, useful life ahead. Beyond the financial return, a remodel can also greatly increase your day-to-day satisfaction by creating a more inviting, spa-like space. Even a basic refresh with new paint and accessories can make a significant difference.
