"I recently had the pleasure of working with Erik from First State Ponds, and I can't recommend him enough. Erik traveled all the way from Delaware to Maryland to service my pond, which was having persistent issues with murky water. Before connecting with Erik, I had already been advised by another company to purchase a specific filter and pump. Thankfully, I found First State Ponds just in time. Erik took the time to explain that while the recommended filter might clear my water, it would require constant maintenance. He suggested a different filter and a stronger pump, but he was also willing to install the one I had already purchased if I preferred. The best time of year to pump a septic tank is spring because the ground is thawed and snowmelt and rainfall can help with proper drainage. A septic tank should be emptied about once every two to three years. The number of people in your household and the size of your tank can influence how often to pump the septic tank. The average septic tank size is about 1,250 gallons, so anything smaller may need to be pumped once every year or two.

It only takes a few days for a septic tank to fill with water after a pro has pumped it. This is completely normal, and the water is a vital part of your septic system’s wastewater treatment process. The water that fills your tank days after pumping is not the same as the tank being filled with waste. They flow down this pipe to the absorption area whenever water is used in your home. The tank keeps working at this full level until it's pumped again.
