"I moved to a new apartment with a large wardrobe and heavy furniture. The movers handled everything carefully, wrapping the smaller items in blankets and moving the larger items on dollies. They also took the time to ensure that my electronics and delicate lamps were packed securely. They were truly exceptional in moving things."

"This was absolutely the best moving experience I have ever had. Today was moving day and I was so impressed with the three guys that moved me. Jake, Marlon, and Gary blew me away. They were fast, courteous and careful They had to take apart my platform bed and an extremely heavy desk. And then carefully move them and put them back together."

"No damage to the new house (this was very important, as we just had the entire house freshly painted). They moved everything in less than 4 hours, which was amazing since we had a lot of big items to move. The movers were courteous and professional. When I asked if I could do anything to help, they told me to just relax and let them take care of it. I had a very heavy sleeper sofa that needed to be moved from one room to another at the new house. They moved it for me, no problem. This was a huge help. It allowed me to situate my furniture in the rooms I wanted. I will be recommending Hoosier Mover to friends and neighbors."

Moving questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to move a shed is to roll it along a makeshift conveyor belt made of strong PVC pipes and a board. Alternatively, hiring professional movers who move sheds makes your shed-moving project as simple as making a call and writing a check.

The maximum size of a tiny home you can move depends on your state transportation guidelines, but the rule of thumb is a maximum of 400 square feet. However, as long as it falls within the local limits for traveling on public roadways, you should be good to hit the road.

Yes, you can use a dolly to move a treadmill, though you won't always need one. If your treadmill has wheels and you’re moving it to a different location on the same floor, you can likely skip the dolly. But if you’re moving it up a flight of stairs or to a new home, a dolly can help you move it more easily.

Yes, you can very carefully lay down a grandfather clock to move it, but it requires a bit of prep work. Remember, all of your clock's components and mechanisms are delicate, and shifting them can cause serious damage. Before laying it down, you will need to remove these pieces, plus the weights and the pendulum.

Start by removing any obstacles in the moving path, such as side tables, lamps, or other furniture. If your couch has legs, unscrew them. Measure the couch and the stairway to ensure you have enough room; if it seems unlikely, examine the shape and size of the couch and decide whether it might fit better up the stairway and through doorways on its side, held diagonally, or moved in an upright position.

Consider putting the sofa on a dolly to go up the stairs. It should be able to fit upright on a standard dolly with wheels. You’ll still need to lift the dolly—with the couch on it—up the stairs, but it will reduce the physical strain. The person holding the dolly should pull the couch up, while the helper should be on the other side, keeping the couch secure and steady.

If you don’t have a dolly, the person in front should lift the couch slightly higher than the person in the back to create more stability. The person in the back should also be the stronger mover, as most of the weight will be distributed there.
