"Absolutely a GREAT experience ! If your like me, your concerned about the contractor that your going to hire. Randy (Father/estimator), Chris (Son/owner) and Cory (coworker) do excellent work. Chris always kept me informed of their schedule and work plans. They answered all my questions and also provided options to complete tasks, that would even make things better, than my original ideas. I would hire Randy, Chris and Cory without any hesitation for any future masonry type of work, or for that matter any type of work they perform. I found them to be honest, caring, ethical, friendly and they do A+ work."

Customers say: True professional

"J&E Masonry completed a stone wall repair as well as a small concrete entrance repair for me, both with outstanding effort in all aspects related. Time to come out after initial contact, view desired work and provide an estimate was remarkable. Start dates were provided and time frames for completion maintained. Work was meticulous and cleanup exceptional. Thank you Edgar and Micheal-recommend without reservation."

"Better pricing than others because it included finished walls (there were extra charges for additional finishing like drywall). Easy to work with the team for planning and scheduling, and the work was done efficiently. Good network for additional services like flooring."

"I was having some issues with water coming into the basement through the foundation and walls during rainy weather. Not flooding, or even shop vac-able volumes, just enough to be annoying and require mopping. Dominic and his crew were here today to install an under-floor drainage system and a new sump pump. I was dreading the demo (I have a concrete floor) and the mess involved, but these guys came prepared for everything! They used dust abatement measures to protect all my basement-stored items, and they removed and hauled all the debris away when finished with the excavation. What really impressed me was the concrete restoration upon completion. I've previously had a sewer line replaced through the basement floor, and the contractor really "botched" the floor repair. I can't describe how different this experience was! The concrete installed today is immaculate! Dominic takes pride in his work and with good reason! The new concrete is perfect! I am thrilled!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, Lancaster offers eco-friendly masonry solutions such as reclaimed brick, locally sourced stone, and natural hydraulic lime mortar, all of which support sustainability. Energy-efficient upgrades include insulated masonry walls, permeable pavers for better water management, and solar-reflective coatings. Many local contractors are experienced in green building practices, and Lancaster County offers incentives for energy-efficient improvements, making it easier to choose sustainable masonry options.

Helpful?

In Lancaster, urgent masonry work is needed if you find bowing walls, deep or widening cracks, leaning chimneys, or evidence of water intrusion—these pose safety and structural risks. For minor mortar erosion or surface stains, you can plan repairs within a year. While April through October is ideal for masonry projects, emergency repairs are available year-round; acting quickly prevents further foundation or brickwork damage.

Helpful?

Combining masonry work with projects like roofing, siding, or landscaping in Lancaster can streamline your renovation process and reduce overall disruption. Coordinating upgrades allows you to share equipment, minimize labor overlap, and improve your home’s energy efficiency. Many contractors in Lancaster offer bundled services or package deals, especially during spring and fall, which can help you qualify for local rebates and simplify permit applications.

Helpful?

Completing masonry work in Lancaster provides immediate benefits like enhanced weather protection, improved insulation, and a refreshed appearance for your home. Over the long term, you’ll preserve the structural integrity of your property, maintain its historic character, and potentially increase resale value. Well-maintained masonry and foundation repair can also lower energy bills and may help reduce insurance premiums, especially in Lancaster’s older neighborhoods.

Helpful?

In Lancaster, it’s time to consider masonry repair if you notice cracked or deteriorating mortar joints, loose or shifting bricks, white efflorescence, or bulging sections in your brickwork or stone walls. Homes from the 1800s or early 1900s often show signs of foundation repair needs after harsh winters. Scheduling an inspection in early spring or fall helps catch seasonal damage before it escalates.
