"I would strongly recommend Kris Weaver and Baker's Waterproofing. Kris is extremely knowledgable about basement waterproofing, there's that. But he also did an excellent job of aligning scope and our budget. Baker's Waterproofing was highly recommended to us from friend and Kris exceeded all our expectations. He appears to be a top notch human being and we hired Baker's immediately. We are looking forward to getting started on the work and resolving our basement waterproofing issues."

Customers say: Quick response

"This project was the complete remodel of a split entry, three-bedroom house (in various states of disrepair). I was given a thorough estimate, and we reviewed the work scope in great detail. Even when confronted with some unexpected issues (items that were not obvious until we begin the demo) midstream, they gave me complete Information so that I could make an informed decision on how to proceed. Their work is excellent, they are reliable and easy to communicate with, they are proud of what they do and want you to be happy with the results. My project included general construction, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical assessment. I highly recommend Powerhouse and will continue to use them for my general contracting needs. As I recently told them, **you are my guys from now on!** Thank you, Clayton, JD, and Chris for a job well done!"

"We chose Dan based on his knowledge of the work that needed done. Repaired bowing walls in the basement, installed a french drain around the perimiter of the basement, installed two sumps and replaced a water damaged sill beam at the top of the foundation. The sill beam damage was caused from an outside patio sloping toward the house. The solution was to remove a portion of the patio (not the entire patio), which provided access to the sill beam and rim joist. Replacing the sill beam required jacking the basement joists up to repair the sag in the floor and install the new sill beam. The patio concrete was repaired neatly with a strip seal drain against the house to catch any water draining toward the house. Nice solution to the the problem. Dan provided the most economical solution to my bowing wall problems, carbon fiber straps for the areas where the wall bowing was less severe and steel beams where the wall bowing was much worse. In comparison to other companies quoted, Dan provided the most repair work for the money and in one case 1/3 less. Dan was able to start work within a week, not months like some companies, and finished the work as indicated, could not have asked for more. When the job was complete the area was cleaned up nicely and the concrete work and sill beam replacement looked great. We are very happy with Dan and would recommend him to anyone needing waterproofing work, most economical, fair, upfront, does what he says and completes the job quickly not over a long period of time."

"Hired them to inspect and a brick house and suggest repairs. Decided to stucco coat one wall and tuck point various needed spots on the house. Brian, Jake, and Kyle spent nearly two weeks doing the job. They were professional knowledgeable and kept customer service at the forefront of the process. The price was very reasonable and the quality of service was good. Would recommend"

"I called around to numerous contractors, and got many estimates that were extremely high. I went on the internet and found home advisor and eventually after narrowing it down we gave the job to On Point Masonry. This is the first time I used On Point Masonry. My chimney was in need of repair so we could sell our house and Jeremey was there on time, and did a great job, in fact the chimney looks better than the original, I liked the way he tapered the bricks towards the top, it gives it a whole new look."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Start by clearing vegetation growing in your mortar joints and ensuring downspouts direct water far from your foundation. You should also monitor small cracks throughout the winter, taking photos to track their growth. Wait for warm weather before attempting any minor patching. Applying water-repellent sealers to non-historic surfaces during dry PA summers serves as excellent preparation before scheduling professional masonry work.

Helpful?

Inspect your exterior every spring after the final freeze-thaw cycle concludes. Schedule masonry work immediately if you notice white salt stains, flaking brick faces, or mortar receding more than a quarter inch. Stair-step cracking and bowing walls indicate severe structural movement in hillside PA properties. Additionally, water infiltrating your basement after heavy rain or snowmelt serves as a clear signal to call a professional.

Helpful?

Applying heavy deicing salt to your steps and walkways causes severe surface flaking. Directing downspouts toward your foundation saturates the structure, while planting garden beds directly against your exterior walls accelerates moisture damage. High-pressure washing and applying non-breathable paint trap water inside older Johnstown bricks. Finally, delaying minor repairs over the winter destroys masonry work as freezing temperatures force small cracks to expand rapidly.

Helpful?

Proper maintenance for masonry work requires an annual spring inspection to check for new cracks and moisture damage. You must schedule professional repointing to replace deteriorating mortar joints and apply breathable water repellents to block heavy PA rainfall. Routine upkeep also involves replacing damaged chimney caps, clearing window well drains, and removing destructive moss or ivy from your brick surfaces to prevent structural decay.

Helpful?

When scheduling masonry work, contractors uncover hidden flood damage or crumbling interior blocks behind exterior walls. Addressing hillside soil movement and foundation settling requires extensive underpinning beyond the original project scope. Sourcing salvaged bricks to match your historic Johnstown home adds unexpected expenses. You must also account for mandatory permit fees, lead paint abatement, and necessary drainage corrections to prevent future deterioration.
