"As a mobile home owner of decades, I know how difficult it can be to find someone familiar enough with the industry to trust my home to. CC&M is a wonderful company. They are professional, reasonable with pricing and schedules and they are able to offer in-house financing, which is sometimes necessary with mobile homes. Once my children were out in the world, I wanted some major renovations to my home. Mike came out, went over everything and discussed options. In the end, I contracted CC&M to remodel my kitchen, my bathroom, my hallway, my bedroom, add a master bath, add a new laundry/utility room, replace heat-tape and upgrade some of the electric. From beginning to end, Mike and his crews were amazing. They are attentive to detail and their work is exsquisite. I had never done renovations before, but CC&M made me very comfortable with the whole process. It's been a month and a half since the work was done, and I couldn't be happier. My friends and family compliment me as soon as they walk in. As far as I'm concerned, if you need work done, CC&M is the company to call. Thank you for bringing my home back to life. There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. A deck that isn’t attached to a house is called a floating or freestanding deck. These standalone decks are built near ground level, so they usually don’t need deck stairs. Some don’t even require permits. Generally speaking, building a floating deck is faster and more DIY-friendly than constructing one that’s connected to your home.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

There are exceptions, however. The layout of your property may require a different approach. For example, if your property is on a slope, the gate may not be able to swing inward. You should also ensure the gate can open fully without colliding with any objects or blocking access to other areas. For a backyard garden gate where public access isn't a concern, the direction it swings is largely a matter of personal preference. Finally, always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements for which way a gate must swing.
