Small jobs welcome

"Very glad my friend recommended Irish Pride Hardwood Flooring. Exceptional work on a 20+ year old hardwood floor with quite a few deep scratches & was a pleasure to work with. Kept on schedule and left us with a brand new kitchen floor!"

"We had nearly all of the carpet on our second floor removed and replaced with LVP and they did an incredible job with it. Very fast, professional, and very patient while we were trying to play with different options and figure out exactly what we wanted to do. We'll be certainly going back to them when we need our first floor done."

"I needed carpet installed in a small area including 5 steps and a landing area. It had to be done before my daughters wedding on the 12th of Feb. They installed it on the 8th. They did a great job. and would use them again the next time I need a flooring project."

"The sales representative who came to my house was great. He was knowledgable, professional, and answered all my questions. There was less than expected communication with me during the ordering and receiving of the materials. It would have been nice to hear updates or have some contact while I waited for the materials to come in. The installers were great! Very mindful of my new floors and treated my home with respect. I ordered them food and encouraged them to take a break and drink coffee / water. I was disappointed to see sloppy trim work and the shower head leaked. However when the glass doors were installed (on a different day) that installer informed me the first shower head was broken and he had it replaced with a new one. Overall I love the new look of my bathroom. I’m still upset with the trim work because it feels sloppy and I am paying a lot for the overall project."

"I had existing white oak refinished and additional flooring weaved in and the entire floor was sanded. Communication was great. I was kept updated on the start date and when the flooring would arrive 2 weeks prior to acclimate. I pulled the carpets, removed the padding, staples and baseboards in the 2 rooms that got flooring installed. The project was scheduled to take a week. They were done in two days and it showed in the details. I had all flush mount white oak floor registers installed and they were all polyurethaned over and stuck in place. The 10 vents were filled with plastic. No wonder why my air conditioner was not working properly. It took me 4 hours to gently pry out the vent covers, scrape and clean the floor registers so they opened and closed, sanded the edges and re-inserted. In addition, I asked for one existing gouge to be fixed in the area that was getting refinished and it wasn't. I have a gas fireplace shutoff in the floor that dropped down into the basement when the finishing ring was removed and it was not reconnected. They were using a battery powered leaf blower to dry the poly faster. There are several areas of uneven sanding in the toe kick of the fridge and bathroom that Im sure was noticeable after the first coat of three went down and could have been fixed. I believe in leaving a house the way you found it. The cleaning after the flooring was complete was less than desirable. I understand that doing a job like this is going to produce a lot of dust, but a cleaning company should be included in the project. I recommend you consider all of these items and put them into a contract which I did not do."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, in most cases, you can use furniture sliders on carpeting. However, it’s best to seek out furniture sliders that are specifically meant for carpeting, or a larger size of slider that the furniture won’t slip off of as easily. Many varieties of furniture sliders are versatile enough to use on carpeting, hardwood, or tile floors.

If you have a dark carpet and are going for a lighter look, you should replace it, rather than dyeing, since you can only go darker with dye. If your stains are too heavy to mask with carpet dye or the carpet is more than 10 years old, you should also consider replacing it.

Few home upgrades add resale value above their installation cost, including terrazzo floors. However, they are still a good option if you like the look. While terrazzo may be expensive, it has a solid return on investment of around 55% to 70%. The durability and low maintenance requirements of terrazzo can be appealing selling points, as many buyers will appreciate flooring that can last 40 to 100 years.

Squeaking floors don’t usually pose an immediate safety risk. It can be the result of normal settlement, changes in humidity, or natural wear. Uneven or warped floors do pose a trip risk, so you should call a pro for a repair. This is especially true if you notice visible signs of rot or deterioration. Rarely, a creaking floor can signal structural issues, but there are usually other signs.

Avoid steam cleaning unsealed hardwood, vinyl, and laminate floors unless the manufacturer explicitly states that a steam mop can be used.
