Expectations were presented prior to the project. Details on what would happen and how the project would go. Would not hesitate to use again ERV installed New basement egress. This project did not go as planned, but not at the fault of basement systems. Was originally supposed to get a BILCO door but due to unforseen issues, that was not able to happen. "When we purchased our home a year and half ago, the crawl space in our home was in pretty bad shape. It was poorly insulated, was retaining higher humidity and full of debris from the previous owner. As the following year progressed, we started getting a little water from time to time due to heavy rains. During this time my wife and I realized it was time to do something about it. Last October 2021, I started getting quotes from various local basement contractors, Basement Guru's was one of them. When I called Basement Guru's, they responded quickly and were able to set up a consultation in a matter of days. Dan Kelly (Proprietor) came out to my home and conducted a vigorous evaluation of my crawlspace. Additionally, Dan was extremely competitive in his pricing when compared to other quotes. Within a couple of days, my wife and I agreed to the terms and went forward with Basement Guru's. Due to high demand, Dan's team started about a month later but they were swift and had the job done in only two days. I was extremely impressed with how fast Basement Guru's worked and attacked the project. In the end, we had all debris removed, a French Drain installed, Sum Pump, sprayed our floor joists with an anti-microbial, insulation installed between the floor joists, rebuilt a wall dividing a room, Regrouted, Parged foundation pillars, installed a vapor barrier and roughcasted my stone foundation walls. Additionally, we had a dehumidifier installed. As of February 2022, our crawlspace has been dry and maintaining good humidity levels. In the end, the only negative we had during the project was was a small clean up issue. After addressing this problem with Dan, he was quick to respond and compensated the clean up costs. "We started having issues with our foundation settling. We searched on line for foundation repair companies in our area. We decided to get 3 estimates. Because of their great reviews we called AFS first. Robert Stringfield showed up to explain our issues and gave us an estimate for the job needed. First of all Robert was very polite, professional and knowledgeable about foundation repair. He spent a great deal of time measuring and surveying the issues, causing our foundation to settle. He also found some mold that we were unaware of. He also observed some large cracks in our concrete driveway. After he completed his through inspection, he proceeded to show us the problems we were having by using pictures on his laptop. He then went into great detail explaining how AFS would take care of all of our issues, foundation, mold and driveway. He presented three options that we could choose from. 1. support to stabilize foundation. 2. support to stabilize foundation and install drain system with sump pump. 3. support to stabilize foundation and install drain system with sump pump and totally encapsulate the crawlspace. We chose the third option and decided to have our driveway repaired. AFS does offer low cost financing and a discount for package deals. Also included is a life time warranty, that covers a parts and labor, that is transferable should you sell your house. We also got estimates from RamJack and American Foundation Repair, but because of Robert and the great reviews AFS had, we chose them to do our job. The workers showed up on time and completed our job in five days. Everybody we dealt with at AFS was great! We would highly recommend AFS to get your job done. It was a very expensive job, but gave us the security of knowing it was done right. A rule I have learned over the years: Good work is not cheap. Cheap work is not good."

"We had a French drain installed in our basement, along with two sump pumps. From what I can tell, the work was performed correctly and to the specifications outlined in the contract. I found Shawn, the owner, to be responsive, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. Overall, the crew that installed the trench and sumps arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the job in 3 days, leaving a clean basement behind. For the sake of fair balance, I will detail two issues in the service I received. The first had to do with the condition of my footer when the trench was dug. As they were digging, I noted that in one section of the wall, the footer appeared have been damaged by their jack hammering. Upon calling Shawn about this issue and sending him pictures of the damage, he stated that it was related to how large the footer was and how the footer was poured when the house was built. He also assured me that the footer was in good condition and the part they chipped away was not load bearing and had no impact on the structural integrity of the foundation. This seemed to be a reasonable explanation so I thought nothing of it. The second issue had to do with cracks in the basement floor. Before the work was started, there were one or two visible cracks in the floor. Yet, after their work was complete there were well over a dozen visible cracks. Upon calling Shawn again, he stated that his jackhammers could not have caused that damage and there might have been smaller cracks that got larger when they began working. I do not have photographic proof to dispute this explanation so I can only cite my memory regarding the condition of the basement floor; however, in combination with the first issue it makes me wonder how much care was taken when they dug the trench. Not being structural engineer or having photographic proof, I can not refute the explanations given to me, but my advice to others would be to photographically document the condition of your basement prior to getting work done and carefully watch the work being performed."
