"This could not have gone smoother and Don and his crew were the reason why. We had a very very tight budget and Don was able to make it work. He came in thousands of dollars less than even the next closest bid. He is not your typical contractor either. Very friendly, patient, responsive, and does things right. Don is heavily involved in the work and actually cares how things turn out. If something is wrong, he takes the time to fix it even if it delays him a little bit. If anything comes up or he has questions of what you want done, he will call or text you. He is also so fast to get back to you by phone, text, or email. They were on time every morning, took great care not to damage walls, floors, carpet, get dirty or drywall dust everywhere, etc. Project finished in just under 3 weeks. We have had bad experiences with contractors in the past trying to inflate the bill, poor quality of work, etc and Don is NOT that kind of contractor. There was a rather large issue he discovered under the kitchen sink when he was installing the new faucet and he took the time to contact me, explain the issue (texted me pics too), explained how he would fix it with PVC pipes the right way (unlike previous apparent repairs), and the extra cost was minimal. After he corrected this, it actually resolved the musty smell and mildew issue in the basement. The finished product in the bathrooms was perfect. We didn't use the best tile and materials due to the budget but everything was done so professionally it looks amazing! The tile is level, grout work is perfect, the drywall was seamless so it looks great now that it is painted, the woodwork was great, the doors throughout the house were perfectly level and he made sure they all opened and closed smoothly without any awkwardness. Not easy to do in an old house! I remember them testing out the track doors for the closets and taking them downstairs for the 3rd or 4th time to adjust whatever because they "weren't quite right yet". It is so hard to find people who care about their quality of work like this. After seeing the results, a friend of mine wanted to use him so we referred her to him and they are going to proceed with her bathrooms. I highly recommend his services."

"Micky and Josh did a phenomenal job on our shower remodel. They arrived in time, took extraordinary care in everything they did and were excellent communicators. Micky and Josh encouraged my wife and I to review the process and explained the work in a clear and concise manner. My wife and I plan to use Calco for future projects."

"I told Joe (over the phone) that our toilet was self-flushing. Joe said he was away & could not service the toilet for a week. He suggested I purchase a new KORKY flapper (which I felt comfortable installing) which I got in 1 day from Amazon (cost $4.49). He said that if successful, it would save me the cost of his visit. It did indeed work. Needless to say, I will call on Joe for future plumbing issues."

"The entire experience couldn't have been better. I reached out to Valdel about replacing a cracked toilet, and the response was almost immediate. I was scheduled for a technician visit the same day. The office staff were very responsive, and pleasant. The work was scheduled promptly. I was informed who the technician would be, and sent a photo of the technician so I could identify him when he arrived at the door. The technician (Nick) was a pleasure to work with. Nick was very pleasant, and respectful of our residence. His work was done professionally, cleanly, and in a timely manner. Well done Valdel Plumbing!"

"Tyler was so efficient, professional, helpful, and pleasant. What we had feared would prove to be a struggle was addressed quickly, a diagnosis was proposed, we scooted out and bought the relevant part, and Tyler was back in a jiffy to install and test it. It's been an hour since he left, and we're still smiling. Thanks for a great job."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Although the use of asbestos has declined since the 1980s, it remains in several different types of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant. Typically, asbestos can be found in materials such as ceiling and floor tiles, heat-resistant fabrics and coatings, and roof shingles. You may also find asbestos in textured paint and patching compounds.

Asbestos was most commonly produced and integrated into building products from the 1920s to the late 1980s. In reality, asbestos use should have ceased much sooner because asbestos was linked to cancer in studies produced as early as the 1950s. You can even extend that number past the 1980s due to stockpiled materials and because some countries treat asbestos use differently. It may also be found more in commercial applications than residential.

Costs depend on the number of samples, property size, and lab processing fees.

Because of the danger of inhaling asbestos fibers, figuring out through testing whether your popcorn ceiling contains asbestos is definitely worth it. If the popcorn ceiling texture has asbestos, remove it as soon as possible to keep your family safe. Any home built in or before the 1980s that has popcorn ceilings could have asbestos, necessitating testing. Asbestos carries several health risks for people who inhale it, including the increased chance of developing lung cancer in the future.

It can be safe to live in a house with asbestos as long as the asbestos-containing materials are intact, in good condition, and not disturbed. Asbestos becomes dangerous only when its fibers are released into the air, which happens if the material is damaged, crumbling, or disturbed during renovation work. If you suspect asbestos is present, do not disturb it. Instead of removal, materials in good condition can sometimes be encapsulated. It is recommended to have regular professional inspections to monitor the condition of the asbestos and prevent health risks from potential exposure.
