"We weren't overly thrilled with them. We had been over to their warehouse. The way they work it, they have a warehouse where you walk through and look at these slabs of granite. If you find one you like, they'll send you an estimate. They guy came out and measured. We told them what we wanted and choose the slab we wanted, but we never got a quote. We waited and waited and called and they never sent us anything. I guess they didn't want our business. The facility was nice and the help we got there was fine. The process seemed to be a good one, until it came time to get the bid. They had our business. We had decided to go with them. They never sent the estimate. We called and then they still didn't get it. We just ended up going somewhere else. They didn't come through in the end with the most important thing, the quote, and they just kind of wasted everybody's time."

"It started very well, we worked with Tara, she was very receptive to the changes that we made and was very accessible and flexible.We wanted initially to hire for full remodel, but their quote was too high ,so we decided to limit only to cabinets and install. We hired other companies and it was a smart decision . Then the installation came and unfortunately it was poor planning and what was very disappointing poor execution leaving us with significant gaps between the back of the cabinets toe kick and the cabinets.. nails trough the cabinets and misaligned doors When we alerted about it..we were told to hire someone else to fix that ..I must admit that the quartz company that did do very good job. But in regards with the cabinets installation no supervision and very poor craftsmanship. So we ended up with having to repair what should have been planned and executed well initially."

"It went great. These guys are extremely hard working and actually did some small repairs that they discovered that I was not aware of. I would highly recommend them for any project you might have and would definitely hire them again. Their prices were VERY reasonable. Considering the amount of work I had done, they cleaned up the property when they were finished and it looks as if no one had been here. I’m considering another large project and will be contacting William, Henry and Alejandro when I’m ready to start that work. Galen and his crew arrived on time.  One worked on replacing dry wall and plastered the wall while the others cut out the tree branches and patched the roof.  They also replaced a cracked drain pipe and repaired the back porch roof.  They were all very courteous and professional. I was very pleased with their  excellent work and the cost of the work.

"Jason and his team remodeled a bathroom for us. He was very professional and polite. He gave us insight on all aspects of the job from start to finish. He said the job would take 2 weeks and took two weeks. They were very clean about everything and cleaned up when they were done. We made several changes to the project as we moved along and they accomadated for us very accordingly. They out in a time shower and all the floors. It turned out very professional and the suggestions were right on the money. We would def use them again.

"Les promptly arrived for our scheduled estimate and was attentive to listening to our ideas, thorough and efficient in taking measurements and making calculations, and mailed us a written quote within the next few days. We hadn't moved in yet and Les was very flexible and accommodating of our schedules, able to meet us both at our old residence in Squirrel Hill and our new home in Etna.
Although it was a bit counter-intuitive, we asked for work on the floors to be done first so that they would be finished before we began to move our furniture. Our schedule was rather tight and Jim aka Mr. Sandman and his staff worked quickly and diligently. Our house is an older one without central air and it was especially impressive to see how hard everyone was working despite the 80-90 degree summer weather. Jim came to examine our floors and was very thorough in explaining the characteristics of our floor and how he was able to ascertain that it was white oak. We settled on a matte, light honey-colored finish to highlight the quality of the wood. The team removed our radiator covers and moved the piano that our house inherited (no small feat!) and was also able to patch in floor boards to fill in a gap where there had once been a banister. In all, a large living room, a large dining room, stair treads, small landing, and larger second floor landing were refinished flawlessly.
In the meantime, the crown molding that we had custom made to match the original molding was finished and Les offered to pick it up for us so that it would save us a trip out. Les' two employees worked quickly and thoroughly in removing the old, non-matching molding and cutting and installing the new pieces. The new pieces were indistinguishable from the old once we painted them and the workers took great care to not harm the new floor.
We thought that we would have to sister in some new floor beams to strengthen the floor under the bathroom but Les' workman informed us that structurally, the floor was sound, and there was no need to perform any repair. We certainly appreciated his honesty! Because we were able to save money by not doing that project. we asked Les to do some plaster repairs for us--we had a ceiling in the attic that needed to be mudded because of moisture coming in from the roof,several holes that we had inherited from the previous owner, and several more that were made by our electrician. All of these were fixed in a careful and efficient manner. We were especially impressed with the repairs on the ceiling where swirls in the plaster had to be matched. After a layer of primer and paint, those repairs too, were seamless.
Overall, we were very impressed with Commonwealth's professionalism and commitment to doing good work at a fair price. Les checked in regularly to ensure that the work was going well and that we were satisfied. He was easy to reach and all of his employees were pleasant, competent gentlemen. The scope and type of work we needed shifted during the project and I was most impressed with how Les was able to adapt to our changing needs. Our needs and budget were modest and I'm sure there are more lucrative projects out there, but Les always made us feel like our projects and our satisfaction was a priority to him and Commonwealth. It was our first experience working with a contractor and doing any home renovations and this was certainly a good one. We'll be happy to call on Commonwealth in the future for our next big projects.
