Customers say: Super punctual

"Steve and team were great to work with. We had seven trees on our property, which hands been cared for properly. (Two others had come down before we bought the house.) Steve examined every tree, determined which needed to be removed and which might be okay, and walked us through every step. He was highly communicative through the whole process. John and the crew that removed the trees were efficient, conscientious and great. They clearly know their stuff and looked after our property like it was theirs. Very happy with their service and would use them again."

"Scaped outdoors was very professional and wonderful to work with. We hired them to do a huge make over of our back yard. It turned out better than we could’ve ever imagined. We will be having them back in the spring to do our front side walks. Highly, highly recommend. You will NOT be disappointed."

Customers say: Quick response

"Hired C&W (Pete) to uncover my septic tank and fix the entire system. We were in real trouble with a septic system that was backed up and unusable. For a family of 5 this was a very stressful situation. Pete took care of the entire problem in an extremely timely manner. True to his word he and his team fixed the problem and left the job site in perfect condition. Really can't imagine anyone else could have done this any better. Highly recommend using this company!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

Costs vary, but you can expect to spend between $1,000 and $4,000 to prepare land for a mobile home or before you build a house. You’ll need to clear enough land for the foundation, which may require leveling or grading, as well as removing trees, stumps, and plants. Don’t forget to plan for permits and fees and the installation of a gas line, water line, and sewer main.

To prepare for a land survey, you must thoroughly check your land surveyor’s qualifications, reviews, and fees to align with your expectations. When it is time for the survey to be conducted, ensure that you have all your documents organized and available, know and mark your property lines, and inform your neighbors that the survey is happening.

You will find a collection of licensed land surveyors in your area. Your real estate agent or construction manager may also be able to recommend a trusted professional. When speaking with prospective pros in your area, ask the land surveyor if they are licensed in the state, have liability insurance, and can quote you a fee before starting.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.
