"To say that our experience with D&N was a disaster is an understatement. Last July, we hired D&N to grade our yard, install french drains, and install a retaining wall and fence. When we met with D&N, we were told that this would be a quick job and should only take a few weeks. We then found out that they would be subcontracting our retaining wall. We were pleased, as our meeting was very professional. That's where it ended. Not only was it impossible to coordinate with their team, we were constantly told that they would be out to work and then wouldn't show up. A few months in, we find out that this is a side gig for they're team and they all have full time jobs. Fastforward to 8 months later, the job was "finished." During spring, we notice that the french drains are not working properly. When we reached out to D&N, we were told that they had nothing to do with it. Absolutely unprofessional. We've spent weeks fixing issues that should have been taken care of. Do not hire!"

"We had a lot of work completed on our home (read: an expensive job). We had a paver walkway installed. We had some irrigation work (ran downspouts underground to run off points) completed. We expanded gardens that didn't previously have any foundation plantings by adding trees and shrubs, and changed the outdoor lighting. The team was quick to secure and complete the work, but the problem has been the follow up / remediation. The crew chief came out afterwards and noted soil settling where the irrigation work was completed, and that a tree and some shrubs were dying back. He talked about adding soil / seed because the settling was significant (obvious), and replacing plantings (trees / shrubs) that didn't fare well (tree trunk snapped by crew member and has been dying back since). I've contacted the crew chief who made the commitments, particularly since there is a warranty on plantings. Repeated calls and emails have not produced a result. So I strongly recommend avoiding this firm because they do not live to the commitments made."

Rob's son-in-law, Jake, and his crew professionally completed the job in two working days. While the tree was removed quickly I have been waiting over two months to get the stump removed. When I call I just get excuses that the stump removal equipment is broken. No one will talk to me but the receptionist. Very frustrating."

Over the course of three years, over ten contractors visited me and provided solutions. NONE OF THEM followed through. On a whim and in desperation, I contacted Mullen Excavating Inc. Kevin Mullen, the owner of company, responded to my call almost immediately. Two days later, he stopped by to evaluate my dire situation. And his ideas were completely opposite of everyone else. Instead of a retaining wall, he advised me to repair the hill. After research, we chose the repair route. Then we patiently waited for five months for warmer and drier weather. Kevin never rushed me for the project. But when the project startedâ ¦ my gosh, it was a well-oiled machine, a BIG HONKING Caterpillar machine. Over the course of two weeks, Kevin and his team removed over 200 yards of fill and top soil, installed three gigantic underground french drains, repaired the water runoff pipes and then completely rebuilt/ regraded my hill, complete w/ grass seed and hatch. A true sight to behold. Throughout the whole process, Kevin remained a calming presence even when the work stopped for three days because of rain. In the end, we got our hill back!! My sincere thanks to Kevin and his team. Kevin seems to be a natural when it comes to excavation work, if that it is a thing. In any case, I highly recommend Mullen Excavating Inc."
