This essentially created a new seam in the basement floor that, as we found out later, was directly over the footer under the floor. The next time it rained hard, we found a puddle on our floor but we thought it was a result of the installation of the glass block window in that room. After Klein completed their work and were paid, we replaced all of the old wall to wall carpeting with brand new carpet. This was in the fall of 2012. In the spring of 2013 we had some back-to-back rain events, and water came pouring in along the walls that had the trough that Klein had created. We called Mr. Klein to come look at what was happening during one of the rainfalls, and Mr. Klein adamantly denied that this had anything to do with the work his company had done. He did offer to give us an estimate for an interior basement drainage system, which would be at our expense. We said no thanks. We lost most of the brand new carpeting that had been installed just months before, and we had to hurriedly move all of the office equipment - computers, printers, fax machine, paper supplies, etc. - to a dry room upstairs. Long story a little shorter, we ended up contracting with Everdry to install exterior and interior drain systems everywhere that Klein had dug originally. As Everdry was digging a much wider interior trough for their work, they found that the footer extended out from the concrete walls by about 8-10 inches. They told us Klein's little trough above the footer just created an opening for water to come through when otherwise it would have gone under the concrete floor as it had before. The job by Everdry cost us $13,600, money that we had had no intention of spending on the basement. We are still in the process of trying to get the basement somewhat back to normal. Basically this is a cautionary tale for anyone who is considering having Brite Wall installed to enhance the look of their basement rooms. If you have no water problems before the installation, you may very well after. As a consequence of the damage done by a job that cost us $2600, we were forced to spend over $13,000, lost several hundred dollars' worth of carpeting, and have had weeks of aggravation and expense trying to get things right again. Not a good deal at all. We have a high ground water table in our area and the water was coming from the floor up (mostly). I had a picture of the last time the basement had water streaming across it. He told me they do at least 300 basements a year and also provided references from around my area of people to call. He wrote up the estimate and it was below any of the other estimates I had received from Klein, B-Dry and America's Basement Contractors. I called a person on the list whose name I recognized a couple days later and he was very happy with the work that had been performed. I decided to call them and schedule the work. The crew showed up promptly on January 2nd, when the work was scheduled to begin. The workers were very courteous and polite. They even took some of the concrete they busted out of the basement and filled an old shallow well we had in the front yard for us, which was no easy job hauling chunks of concrete over to the well. They put tarps down in the living room to keep dirt and dust to a minimum. They answered any questions I had during the process. They finished the work the following Monday. The Zoeller pump they put in is very quiet and you can barely hear it running, which is a plus. We did get a little water coming up through the seams where the new concrete was poured a couple months ago when we had a heavy thaw. I believe it was due to the pump not being able to handle the sheer load of water gushing in. Mike came out and looked at it and said to keep an eye on it and call him if it happens again. I'm thinking we may need another sump to handle the extra volume in these situations. I do not think it is because the system was not installed properly. Overall, very pleased with the work they did and would definitely recommend them to others."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/oh/ashtabula/basement-de-watering-systems-of-ohio-reviews-371654.htm"},"position":10}]}

I discovered a leak in my roof. I had one estimate from a roofer who recommended I replace the whole roof due to several problems he discovered. My roof is relatively new, so I welcomed the advise from a friend to get a second opinion from Angelo's Roofing. Andy Vinca sent his men as soon as...

"The first salesman says one thing, the second salesman says another, the foreman says another, and the managers yet another.. They wouldn’t let me talk to the sales guy after we signed—RED FLAG. Really, for $25,000 dollars, I expected more than the runaround, the half-done job that sat for a week, the ignored requests, the foremen that kept changing/getting fired (?), and the stolen $50 extension cord THAT WAS MY ONLY POWER to their fan system.. you would think they would want to protect their work a bit better since we have the extended warranty. They were almost half the price of the other company we were looking at, and now, I’m pretty sure I know why. Probably not the best bang for the buck. But then again, they don’t have to live in my sinking house, so maybe it’s not that big a deal for them. I was less than impressed. They left clay and gravel all over my basement floor and some dirt all over my upstairs floor. We bought them pizza, made them coffee, and they were friendly enough when we talked with them, but we knew that they were scrambling to get jobs done. The salesman said they would provide an electrician if we needed one, but then they never delivered on that.. everyone is booked lately on electrical work, so I have a sump and fan system that currently has no power. I question the integrity and quality of this company. And I still have to get someone to fix my exterior wall because they don’t do that—not their bag, I get that, but it’s annoying. I just wish the job that was done was half as reassuring as the sales presentation."

DBC Remodeling helps clients remodel their houses into homes where they love to live. Operating in Erie, PA and northwest Pennsylvania since 2007, we are a residential remodeling contractor specializing in sunroom additions, kitchen and bath remodels, decks, awnings, basement waterproofing and basement finishing.
"We did the demo on our old two-tiered decking. Betterliving built a new upper deck from composite with aluminum railing. The lower deck was replaced with as 12X15 sunroom. The process from start to finish was a pleasure. All employees were friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. Price was better than anticipated, so we went with a 4-season sunroom instead of a 3-season. The worksite was safe, clean and orderly, and the quality of the build was excellent. They worked through some miserable cold weather too. Deck – Betterliving’s construction quality was a major improvement to what we previously had. Their suggestion to use two colors on the railing worked out great too - spindles are a different color that the rest of the railing. Sunroom - also very solid construction. It is insulated well, and also helps even out the temps in the family room it is attached to. The gable style not only looks nice, but makes the sun room look bigger. They built a small landing off of the sunroom entryway too. It is important to note that they installed the flooring and contracted the electrical. Flooring and electrical work were included as part of our quote with them. Not all of our quotes from other businesses included flooring and electrical work, and would have been an additional cost. Having everything included in the quote also meant we had one project, not several projects. Deck/sunroom/landing materials – decking and landing materials were the same composite materials. The sunroom skirting was also the same composite. This ties everything together visually, and improves the overall look. Electrical work – Knorr Electric completed all the electrical in the sunroom (interior and exterior outlets, exterior floodlight, and hung a ceiling fan). They also replaced all of our outside lighting on the entire house while they were here, and moved a bathroom light inside. They were also friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. And quality work from them too. We will definitely contact Betterliving and Knorr again for any additional work we want done. They are highly recommended! Note that Betterliving in the Erie, PA area is connected to DBC Remodeling and Construction (same employees). DBC came highly recommended to us from a friend."

FAQs for basement leak repair projects in Erie, PA
The cost to finish a basement is $18,400 for the average homeowner. However, this cost could be as little as $2,800 or as much as $34,500, depending on the basement size and the materials needed. If your basement is already outfitted with electrical and plumbing, expect the cost to fall on the lower end.
For example, the drywall cost for this project averages around $1,750, but other features, like hiring a plumber, cost between $45 and $200 per hour.
The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.
If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.
Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.
Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.
Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.
The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.
If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
