"We came home from an outing on a Sunday night and found our air conditioner not working. I found John Mullen on Angie's list and liked the reviews. I contacted John and he asked me about my schedule on Monday. He fit us in on Monday morning. I wasn't home but my wife was. She said that John was so nice that she assumed that he was a friend of mine. I told her that I never met him before. He fixed the air conditioner and I am relieved that it didn't cost us a ton and we avoided 85 degree heat with an air conditioner. I would use John again. He was dependable, came out with in 12 hours of being called, and my wife does not always comment on how nice someone is unless it is absolutely true. Thumbs up for John Mullen, I have just found a go to guy for everything!"

"I would highly recommend ARS - Pittsburgh to everyone who is in need of HVAC work!! From the moment I reached out to them to install was 2 business days, and then a couple days for a follow-up visit due to additional work needed which was unforeseen prior to my new boiler installation. Each and every employee (Bob, Chris, Jay and Tomas) were phenomenal. We will definitely be using ARS - Pittsburgh in the future for when we are ready to move forward with our ductless air conditioning needs."

"I have had air systems mechanical install my high efficiency furnace few years ago and recently install my central air. Their prices are lower than the rest. They are always courteous and professional from salesman to office staff. I have nothing negative to say. Always on time for routine furnace tune up appointments. A great company to deal with."

He arrived at the time he said he would and completed the repair work in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend his services to anyone. "I had the crew of Glenn, Brenden &Josiah to clean my air ducts. They were very clean and efficient. They explained everything and pointed out mistakes in the construction of my ducts with cold air returns. They also left information for UV purifier for my son’s allergies to review. I liked the fact that the work was hospital grade."

"I can't say enough positive things about this company. My AC was on the blink and the Home Warranty service called a different company to come and fix it. The other company never showed or returned my phone calls. So I took advantage of an Angie's List discount with Sullivan Super Service. They gave me a window of when they would show up and then gave me a 45 minute notice of their arrival. They showed up on time with a clean truck and two professional, well groomed men in clean uniforms. I was impressed before they even started the work. These professionals knew what needed to be done and worked with my home warranty company to repair the AC. They got it done right with no shortcuts. My AC works better than ever and I am a very happy customer. They exceeded ALL my expectations! I highly, yes highly recommend their service!"

"Highly recommend Custom Air Pros! During a heat wave, the AC on my taco truck stopped blowing cold air, and I needed help fast. They were able to come out first thing, found that my refrigerant was low, located and repaired the leak, and added R-410A refrigerant. Before I knew it, my AC was back up and running and blowing ice-cold air again. They were quick, professional, knowledgeable, and really came through when I needed them most. I?ll definitely be using Custom Air Pros again!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are many recognizable symptoms of AC compressor failure. They include loud banging noises, hot air being continually circulated in your home despite running the AC at full blast, uneven airflow and cooling, and electrical issues like constant surges due to the compressor working overtime. While some of these symptoms, like uneven cooling, can have other root causes, they are common indicators of compressor problems.

You can buy R-22 refrigerant for your home air-conditioning system through your local AC repair specialist, who can also refill your R-22 system as needed. You may find that the cost of R-22 has gone up due to shortages as the EPA banned this refrigerant. Ask your pro to inspect your system for any leaks or issues.

Yes, you can put an AC unit on the roof of your home or commercial building. For proper installation, you’ll need to ensure the roof surface is flat, it’s accessible for maintenance and cleaning, and an AC installation pro agreed that your home is a candidate for package units. Don’t forget to consider the climate in your area, as homes that experience frequent tropical storms or hurricanes may not benefit from this type of system.

Some of the signs of HVAC issues include rising energy bills, rooms not cooling or heating properly, loud noises when in operation, and signs of condensation. To illustrate, if you’re wondering how to stop condensation on air vents, you’ll need to have your HVAC inspected.

Yes, scorpions can enter a home through AC vents, especially if the system is not well-sealed. As excellent climbers, they can scale a home's exterior and squeeze through gaps as small as 1/16 of an inch. Scorpions are often attracted to the moisture around air conditioning ducts or seek cooler areas during hot weather, using vents as a pathway inside. They may slip through small openings where the duct meets the vent cover and travel within walls before emerging. To prevent this, inspect your vents, seal any gaps, and consider installing fine mesh screens.
