"Well, the system is great! It took a while to get the system installed due to paper work for grant and bank loan. Finally got system up and running on 10/5/16.  The system provides complete energy for our house and business. And we don't have to pay the electric company, in fact they will be paying us for any overflow production.

If your are interested is installing, you better hurry because the demand is increasing dramatically and the waiting time for installation will take a while.

Brian Brown from Renewable Engineered Systems is our provider. Very easy to work with and they are a local company with a very professional attitude.  His contact phone number is 276-226-0228"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Bradford’s heavy snow and ice in winter can delay outdoor electrical work and increase demand on heating systems. Spring and fall bring high rainfall, making weather-resistant materials vital for home electrical upgrades. Summer humidity from the nearby river valley can cause corrosion, while frequent thunderstorms highlight the need for surge protection. The region’s clay soil affects grounding, and older homes often face ongoing moisture challenges throughout the year.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Bradford, use weather-resistant outdoor fixtures and cold-rated wiring to handle freeze-thaw cycles. Select THWN-2 wire for damp areas and corrosion-resistant panels to combat moisture from the local climate. AFCI/GFCI combination breakers are essential for safety, and proper grounding is especially important due to the clay soil. These choices help electrical contractors deliver long-lasting, code-compliant results.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Bradford, review permit requirements and coordinate with your utility provider for any necessary service upgrades. Schedule electrical contractors several weeks in advance, particularly outside of heavy snow months. Inspect older homes for asbestos, check for basement moisture, and identify any buried oil tanks that could affect wiring routes. Taking these steps helps prevent unexpected delays and ensures a smoother project.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Bradford often overlook moisture issues from high humidity, underestimate the electrical load needed for long heating seasons, or skip required permits. Hiring contractors unfamiliar with the area’s older homes or starting projects during hunting season, when local professionals may be less available, can also cause setbacks. Failing to coordinate with the utility for service changes is another common mistake that leads to project delays.

Helpful?

If your Bradford home experiences frequent power outages during winter, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm or emit a burning odor, it’s time to consult electrical contractors. Circuit breakers that trip repeatedly, especially when heating systems are running, also signal the need for home electrical upgrades. Schedule major projects in late spring or early fall to avoid harsh weather and ensure local professionals are available.
