Customers say: Super punctual

"After we invested in a whole house energy audit by Rhett Major, the Energy Doctor, he referred us to Andy Haak and Insulwise because "they will do it right". Insulwise insulated our third floor (ceiling, knee walls and floors), and sealed and repaired the leaky duct work of our HVAC system. They also sealed the rim joists in the basement of our 100 year-old house. Andy and his team were responsive, they worked hard, they were good communicators, and they cared about getting details right. More importantly, when something went wrong (our drywall ceilings were not up to code and were water damaged, and cracked under the weight of the insulation), Andy was honest and worked hard to help us get the situation repaired and to have new insulation installed in a timely way once the ceilings were replaced. The longer we worked with Insulwise, the more they earned our respect. We highly recommend them!! We're looking forward to warm winters and cool summers and lower energy bills in our insulated house."

"We were very pleased with the overall experience—the issue was assessed quickly and accurately and the plumber, Jake, was friendly, professional, and happy to explain things along the way as well as answer any questions. The only drawback was cost (to be expected, I suppose) and the fact that they don’t do drywall repair following the job (which we were told ahead of time but is still a little disappointing)."

"I called to get a quote on the removal and installation for insulation in my attic. Erik Bachman was our Home Performance Specialist and was incredibly knowledgeable and honest with the quality of our existing insulation. As new home owners, the investment of installing new insulation can be overwhelming. Erik was very thorough in his inspection and was easy to talk to about what would make most sense in terms of an investment for our home. When the time is right, we will definitely give Insulwise a call for service. I am impressed with the high-level of customer service. I am relieved knowing that there is a local trust worthy company that I can call in the coming months to get the job done."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Most repairs take 1-3 days, depending on drying times for joint compound and paint touch-ups.

To hide drywall edges, you need to properly apply drywall tape and multiple layers of joint compound. These materials hide the seams between drywall sheets and fill the holes from drywall screws, leaving behind a smooth, flat finish to paint over. Apply joint compound smoothly, and finish the job by sanding the walls to make sure you fully hide drywall edges and other imperfections.

Drying alone can take 1 to 4 hours to dry to the touch per plaster layer, but some types of plaster take several hours longer to dry. However, this doesn’t mean the job is done because plaster doesn’t fully harden until it cures, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. It may take even longer if you’re building a new, pretty thick plaster wall. Allow the plaster to cure before painting it.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

Regularly in areas prone to moisture or high traffic to catch issues early.
