"Gale Samples recommends Casey Insulation Inc. Mid July summer of 2025, my house got so hot I knew I needed some Insulation. I started contacting insulation installers in my area. I live in the Ohio valley south of Steubenville, Ohio. I never got a call back, so I continued my search and found Casey Insulation listed in Pittsburgh Pa. I gave them a call, left a message, and two later received a call from Mr. Casey. He said they were very busy but he would be wiling to talk to me about my insulation problem. We discussed my house and he said would come and check it out. In a week or so he came to my place and we discussed what needed to be done. Later that night as promised, he sent me the estimate. The next day he called me and we discussed the price. Seemed reasonable to me. As busy as his company was he came to my house and took care of my problem very well. They cleaned up everything and were very Shawn and his crew did an excellent job. I know my house is very well insulated n"

"Quality experience from my initial inquiry, to estimate and Tech's explanation of each and every step that they would provide to insure the best job that could be done and for the installation. All three installation workers, that worked on my house, were very professional, very knowledgeable and each took pride in the work they were performing. This was was a full attic insulation, including removal of old and replacement of new, and basement sill plate sealing of a 100 year old home. They politely, and with enthusiasm of their craft, answered my questions about what they were doing, why and how, which just confirmed that I had made the right choice to go with Mincin."

"Bob and his team were great. Bob gave honest advice on the best option to insulate my attic and crawl spaces. The main issue we had was our infants bedroom which had brick walls and 2 windows making it very drafty. While the insulation made a noticeable difference overall, our sons room was still a bit drafty which we expected due to the brick outer walls. Still worth every penny."

"I highly commend this company. Unfortunately I could not have them do the job. He came out, on time, to give me estimate on insulation. He was very honest with me! To do this Job would have required me to have additional projectsâ replace aluminum siding, and holes would be in paneling which was wallpapered over. I am recently widowed and will probably be downsizing in few years. Rather than spending money and doing other projects, decided not to do it. Most companies would have said â oh yes, we can do thisâ and them made a mess! Itâ s nice to know there are still decent, honest companies around."

"I called to get a quote on the removal and installation for insulation in my attic. Erik Bachman was our Home Performance Specialist and was incredibly knowledgeable and honest with the quality of our existing insulation. As new home owners, the investment of installing new insulation can be overwhelming. Erik was very thorough in his inspection and was easy to talk to about what would make most sense in terms of an investment for our home. When the time is right, we will definitely give Insulwise a call for service. I am impressed with the high-level of customer service. I am relieved knowing that there is a local trust worthy company that I can call in the coming months to get the job done."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.

Most handy homeowners can tackle removing texture from unpainted walls. Removing texture from painted walls is a bit trickier. Paint acts as a sealant, so you can’t soften the texture with water. Instead, you’ll have to add a layer of drywall compound known as a skim coat. This process is messy and takes some practice.

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.
