"We recently had a tank alarm go off which alerted us that there was a problem with the septic mound system.  I called Barbosa around 8:30 am and they came out to the property within a couple of hours.  Our technician's name was Mike.  He was very informative.  He diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced a broken septic pump.
He then went on to test the system only to find that, although the pump was now in working order, it wasn't pumping anything out because the mound hadn't been cleaned and needed to be flushed as well.  Mike had to call out a different truck for this job but it was there in less than half an hour.  They flushed out the mound system quickly and efficiently.
Before leaving, Mike wanted to confirm that everything was working as it should be so he asked us to flush toilets and run water while monitoring the situation.
Overall it was a super experience.  I would definitely use them again!  Very fast and very professional.

"After dealing with roto rooter and Losch plumbing with very bad experiences. Thank God for finding Once & Done. Very professional crew, they did a great job in installing the new sump pump that we definitely needed. Jeff was very honest and nice and explained everything that had to be done in detail. "I had a new jetted tub and wall finish installed by Dave and the team. They were very professional and efficient for the entire project. It was completed as promised with no issues. I particularly liked dealing with the same team from the initial estimate through to the construction. Dave handled all of the details and kept me fully informed about progress. i highly recommend Lehigh Vally Baths."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

You might need a permit to modify or repair any portion of your plumbing system, including drainage lines, depending on where you live. In some areas, simple replacements of existing drain lines don’t require a permit. We recommend asking your drain pipe installer or your local building department about permitting requirements. In many cases, only certified plumbers can pull plumbing permits, so you’ll usually need to leave the permit application to your professional. The fee for the permit will be passed to you on your project bill, though.

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.

PVC is best for drain or waste lines, but it isn’t a great choice for water supply lines, which tend to be highly pressurized. PVC is also not suitable for hot water lines. Instead, you’ll commonly see PVC for a toilet drain line or for plumbing vents to prevent airlocks, which can prevent water from flowing out of faucets.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

The most common reasons a toilet won’t stop running are a faulty flapper or fill valve, improper fill height, or incorrect chain length. Luckily, all these issues are relatively easy to fix with parts you can find at a local hardware store. You can also call a plumber or toilet repair professional to solve the problem.
